The turbulence in Coleâs eyes did not go unnoticed by Gu Mengmeng. If not for the fact that the Soul of the Forest had already completely merged with his body and some of Coleâs bewitching spell still lingered in Chixuanâshe would have killed him without any hesitation.
But now was not the right time.
They must first assemble all seven treasures before they could kill Cole. This sequence could not go wrong.
Glaring imperiously, Gu Mengmeng spat a single word. âImpudent.â Cole immediately went soft and collapsed to his knees.
The overwhelming sense of oppression had Cole unable to even lift his head. Like a chained beast, the thicker the metal chains were, the more intense the desire to struggle and escape.
Cole couldnât withstand Gu Mengmengâs strong pressure but this increased his desire to pounce toward her and dominate her. To watch her submit herself beneath him and try all means to cater to his whims.
âElder Eugene, please escort your king back to rest. Donât let him stay here and spoil my mood.â Gu Mengmeng commanded as she swept a cold glance across. She looked nonchalantly bored but her eyes still beheld an undeniable aura of absolute authority.
âRight away.â Elder Eugene immediately knelt beside Cole and together with another elder, they half-supported and half-dragged Cole away.
The bonfire party continued after this minor disturbance.
Gu Mengmeng usually attended such events to show her face and let everyone know she was still well and alive. Todayâs party held another objective, which was to introduce Gregory. She wished to leave now that both objectives had been accomplished.
After all...
Every bonfire party always ended in a wildlife version of the dating game show âIf You Are the Oneâ. Thereafter, there would be a mass display of love, the scene of which... was rather too intense for her eyes.
Gu Mengmeng was just about to go over and say goodbye to Sandy, but before she could even lift her leg, she saw someone walking slowly toward Sandy.
Gu Mengmeng felt someone holding her waist. It was Lea.
Gu Mengmeng turned to look at Lea, who pointed toward Sandyâs direction with his chin. Gu Mengmeng followed his gaze to see a snow fox standing sincerely in front of Sandyâs bonfire. He held a bunch of fresh flowers and smiled appropriately, looking somewhat like a prince charming.
âSandy, for you.â The one holding the flowers was not just any random male, but Arnold, the one who had stood outside Sandyâs territory for several days.
Sandy was stunned. She had heaved a sigh of relief, thinking that Arnold had already given up. Who knew he would approach her again?
Distressed, Sandy stole a quick glimpse at Gu Mengmeng, who also shrugged in confusion.
Lea whispered in Gu Mengmengâs ear. âHe promised not to stand outside Sandyâs territory, but today is the bonfire party and anyone can confess their feelings to their desired female. We have no right to stop him.â
Gu Mengmeng held her forehead as she shot Sandy a helpless look.
Arnold behaved as if he didnât notice Sandy exchanging glances with Gu Mengmeng. He chuckled. âI just saw these beautiful flowers which reminded me of your own loveliness. So I picked them for you. Donât feel pressured. I am not trying to confess my feelings to you.â
Sandy, â...â
The corners of Gu Mengmengâs lips twitched. She thought to herself: Offering someone a gift for no apparent reason. Giving her flowers but not confessing his feelings? Was he trying to take a poke at her and then run off without bearing any responsibility? Stinking hooligan.
Sandy didnât respond. Bode shot Hodgson a look and he immediately stepped forward to block off Arnold. Hodgson smacked Arnoldâs wrist, sending the flowers scattering all over the ground, before saying in a cold voice, âDonât come near my Sandy again. You cannot defeat me.â
