âSo, I cannot treat Gregory well. Not even a little.â Gu Mengmeng knew all too well just how self-deprecating the males of the Beast World were. Even a powerful and domineering person like Snake had liked her so much that he carved out his own gallbladder for her, just to ease her pain. He had even sweetly comforted her as he was dying. And after death, Snake was worried that she would feel guilty and so bid her farewell in the Beast Deity World and went to the other world to find the other Gu Mengmeng. Snake had already died for her once, but still happily protected her in the palm of his hand. He did not hold the slightest bit of grudge over dying for Gu Mengmeng, but continued treating her as his precious treasure.
She was very scared of this type of crazed, intense love, as one could never return the same level of devotion.
Lea was able to realize this outcome because she had already liked him in the first place. All her rejections still left room for negotiation and she really couldnât bear to totally break away from him in the end.
As much as she tried to convince herself of her own monogamous notions of love and marriage, she still couldnât resist his deep devotion and luminous eyes. Hence, she had remained entangled with him and they spun circles around each other before finally ending up together.
She did not feel the same way toward Gregory and so could not let him misunderstand her intentions.
She had to be brutal now so that he would have the chance to love someone else in the future.
Sandy shrugged. âAlright, I wonât force you if you donât like it. Anyway, your two males also treat you very well. They might be a bit overbearing but they still dote on you.â
Gu Mengmeng smiled and leaned against Sandyâs shoulder. âThey are not that overbearing. You should have seen Snake... tsk tsk tsk, he is the self-taught epitome of a tyrant. Itâs really...âwoman, you are playing with fireâ. Haha.â
Sandy chortled as Gu Mengmeng suddenly lowered her pitch into a manly voice, triggering a bout of non-stop giggling between the two females.
Hodgson and the rest exchanged glances. They couldnât help looking at Bode with admiration. Their expressions seemed to imply: âNo wonder you are the first partner, you truly understand Sandyâ.
Bode responded with a faint smile, as if saying: âYou are too kind, too kind.â
They played together for the whole afternoon before Elvis and Lea carried Gu Mengmeng back to their stone castle. Meanwhile, Arnold remained standing proud and erect outside the territory.
Gu Mengmeng couldnât help admiring him a little. He had stood there for an entire afternoon but still maintained such a suave and dashing image. Whenever she looked over at him, he always looked like a promotional poster boy... very determined.
Lea followed Gu Mengmengâs gaze toward Arnold. He felt somewhat jealous and asked, âDo you like him?â
âHuh?â Gu Mengmeng was taken aback. She couldnât follow Leaâs question.
Lea said, âIf you like him, he will definitely agree. After all, partnering you will be even more effective than partnering Sandy.â
Gu Mengmeng shook her head and waved her hand. âNo, no, no. I am not starring in the series âStrange Stories from a Chinese Studioâ, why would I need so many fox spirits? Just you alone is enough.â
Leaâs expression brightened and he nodded with a smile.
After returning home, Lea made dinner and Elvis fed Gu Mengmeng. Thereafter, Lea handed all the bowls and cutlery over to Auretin to wash, before taking out the comb which Cole had Gregory deliver to Gu Mengmeng previously. He asked Gu Mengmeng. âDo you still want this thing?â
Gu Mengmeng had long forgotten all about that comb. She was rather surprised to see Lea take it out. âEh? Itâs still here. I thought I threw it away already. No, I donât want it. Why would I want it? Do as you deem fit.â
Lea nodded before heading out with that beast horn comb.
