Elvis would never understand what the hell those males in that world were thinking.
Why approach a female if you didnât like her?
And if you did like her, how could you bear to let her endure such suffering?
Elvis sighed but didnât probe Gu Mengmeng further on her schoolmate. He just hugged and kissed her. âWhy didnât you tell me that you were scolded by the Beast Deity?â
Gu Mengmeng laughed. âBecause my father didnât scold me too fiercely. I managed to appease him with some buffoonery. Since I came out unscathed, I shouldnât come back and complain about it?â
âTell me, what did the Beast Deity say to you?â
He couldnât even bear to say a single harsh word to his precious babyâand here she was being scolded by someone else.
Even if it was the Beast Deity, Elvis still felt it was intolerable.
He might be helpless against the Beast Deity now, but he would die one day, wouldnât he?
When he did, he would return to the Beast Deityâs embrace. By then... haha.
Gu Mengmeng had no idea what Elvis was thinking and so frankly repeated what the Beast Deity told her that dayâthat a daughter who had gotten married was like water that had been thrown out of the house. That after getting a husband, she did not bother to return home for visits and had forgotten all about her father.
Although the reprimand was indeed not harsh, Elvisâ heart still ached for Gu Mengmeng. He gave her a kiss. âCan you negotiate with the Beast Deity, to bring me along the next time you visit him. Any grievances he has against youâhe can vent it on me. I am his to scold and hit. Alright?â
âItâs just a dream, how to go together.â Gu Mengmeng didnât know whether to laugh or cry. âMy father is still a deity after all, he will not abuse me. Donât worry.â
Elvis sighed and kept quiet.
His heart churned at the thought of Gu Mengmeng going to visit the Beast Deity.
Gu Mengmeng knew what Elvis was worried about, hence she held his face with her little hand. âI will ask my father if there is a way for me to bring you and Lea over as visiting son-in-laws, alright?â
âAlright.â Elvis was full of affection as he rested his forehead gently against Gu Mengmengâs.
After Lea finished taking care of Auretin, he came over to Gu Mengmengâs side to enjoy the sunshine with her. He asked in a lazy manner, âHow do you intend to handle the unborn baby in Mayaâs belly?â
Yes, they needed to settle the matter of the unborn child as soon as possible, so that Lea could make the necessary arrangements.
It might be Coleâs offspringâbut as bad as its parents were, that pea-sized infant was still innocent.
Even the mafia understood the moral code of not punishing oneâs family for oneâs wrongdoings. As much as she hated Cole and Maya, Gu Mengmeng had no reason to hate their child too.
But...
If its own parents wanted to kill their own child, Gu Mengmeng felt she had no right or obligation to stop it.
After all, if someone stood at the doorway of a gynecologist every day to harangue at all those who were going for abortions, telling them things like âwe should cherish every lifeââshe would probably be dragged away to a mental hospital.
She did not have the right to decide, but whether or not the child would be bornâshe would be the one bearing the consequences.
She felt like such a scapegoat. Why did she have to bear the consequences?! She wasnât the one who had gotten Maya pregnant.
Gu Mengmeng frowned with disdain. Every time she felt that Cole could not be any more disgusting than he already wasâhe would come up with some new trick, as if sneering at her as he said, âHey hey, you underestimated me? I can be even more disgusting...â
Lea seemed to have read her thoughts and chuckled. âItâs actually not difficult at all to get rid of this problem. Itâs just a matter of whether you can steel your heart and do it.â
