Chapter 53 - Maggots in Her Bones

Chen Ya was stunned by Mo Yan’s words. She had always thought that Mo Yan was a brainless idiot who only knew how to scream and shout. She wasn’t even able to clear her name when she was framed by others. Previously, she was unlucky for letting herself get recorded by Mo Yan. Never again.

Chen Ya, who finally came to her senses, had her face flushed red. She took a few steps forward, raised her hand, and was about to slap Mo Yan. She even said, “What a slut, selling your body to seal a deal. Who do you think you are? To be able to steal other people’s projects?”

Mo Yan’s eyebrows were tightly knitted. Chen Ya was unrelentless in her attempt to stain Mo Yan’s name.

Chen Ya’s palm landed firmly on Mo Yan’s face. Mo Yan was a little stunned when she felt the burning pain on her face. Didn’t she block it with her hand?

Looking at her palm, Mo Yan realized that she had not been taking care of her body the past month. Hence, she was not strong enough to block Chen Ya’s hand.

Faced with Chen Ya’s mocking smile, Mo Yan felt a surge of anger in her heart. She raised her hand and was ready to slap her back.

Mo Yan stopped and looked towards the person who had come. Mo Yan realized that there were actually quite a few people staring at the two of them. They were pointing at the them, speechless.

Zhou Shuai’s face was pale as he walked between the two of them. When he saw the palm print on Mo Yan’s face, he looked at Chen Ya and signaled for her to leave first. He came to the company right after he was discharged from the hospital. He did not come here for other reasons. He wanted to see if the company’s surveillance cameras had captured the person who hit him, which was to no avail.

Chen Ya glared fiercely at Zhou Shuai. When she thought of the reason why Zhou Shuai was looking for Mo Yan, she could not help but reveal a malicious smile. She had heard about a foreign client who liked women like Mo Yan.

Mo Yan vaguely felt that something was wrong. Why would Chen Ya listen to Zhou Shuai? And leave her and Zhou Shuai alone?

“Wait.” Mo Yan opened her mouth to stop her.

Chen Ya turned her head. Mo Yan rushed forward and gave her a tight slap.

“You!”

Seeing that the two of them were about to start fighting again, Zhou Shuai hurriedly stood between them and asked someone take Chen Ya away.

“Mo Yan, wait a moment.”

Just as Zhou Shuai asked someone to take Chen Ya away, he realized that Mo Yan was also about to leave, so he hurriedly stopped her.

“What’s the matter?” Mo Yan’s anger had not yet subsided, and when she saw Zhou Shuai, she still had an angry look plastered on her face

“Mo Yan, you are at work. Pay attention to your attitude.” When Zhou Shuai saw Mo Yan’s appearance, he immediately assumed the stance of a leader.

Taking a deep breath, Mo Yan clenched her fists tightly and tried hard to calm her voice. “May I ask what is the matter?”.

“Follow me to my office.”

Mo Yan was very against going to Zhou Shuai’s office, but she could not say anything in front of everyone.

The two of them walked in one after the other and closed the door to prevent curious gazes from outside.

Mo Yan kept a safe distance from Zhou Shuai so that she could leave at any time if Zhou Shuai made any inappropriate moves.

Only when the two of them were alone did Mo Yan notice Zhou Shuai’s abnormality. He had just been discharged from the hospital, but he seemed to still look unwell. Mo Yan could not help but guess.

“Sit.” Zhou Shuai lifted his usual smiling face, but when paired with his pale face, it gave off a gloomy feeling.

“No need, just tell me what you have to say!”

After going through so much, both of them knew each other’s character, so there was no need for pleasantries.

“Mo Yan! You know that Chen Ya has a bad temper, so I apologize to you on her behalf. We work in the same company, don’t make things uncomfortable.”

“If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave first. I still have work to do.”

Seeing Mo Yanks disrespect, a hint of viciousness flashed in Zhou Shuai’s eyes. However, his expression did not change. “I called you here because I have something to say. Our company is currently in contact with a foreign client. I’ve already applied to bring you along with the higher-ups.”

“What?” Mo Yan was shocked and subconsciously asked.

“This is a very good opportunity to learn.” Zhou Shuai ignored Mo Yan’s surprise and continued to say.

“I’m not going.”

Zhou Shuai smiled casually, ignoring Mo Yan’s refusal.

“The company was still considering whether to let you go with me, but the company immediately agreed after you successfully sealed a deal. If you refuse, you must have a reason. When the time comes, the company will send someone to investigate the situation. You know that.”

Mo Yan’s face turned pale. She still did not have the ability to contend with Chen Ya and Zhou Shuai, so she could not go against the company’s decision.

“Why are you so afraid? It’s not like I’m going to eat you up.”

Even though he said that, Zhou Shuai’s gaze on Mo Yan was like maggots in her bones, making her feel nauseous.

“Supervisor Zhou, is there anything else? If there’s nothing else, I’m leaving.” Mo Yan did not want to stay here any longer.

“I’ll pick you up tonight. Dress ‘appropriately’.”

“There’s no need. Please send me the address. I’ll take a taxi.”

This time, Zhou Shuai did not have much to say, he just sent her address. After all, the main event was at their destination.
