Chapter 24: XXIV - "Best Behaviour"

Silent But Deadly// COMPLETED✔️Words: 16049

When I got home I threw myself on my bed and admired my bedroom for awhile before I had to start getting ready for tonight. Dinner starts in three hours so I have more than enough time to get ready, and I haven't even picked out an outfit.

I walked over to my Window Seat and plopped down to look over the back yard; Soldier was sniffing around and doing his business so there wasn't really much to see. I grabbed my book from my back pack and started reading until I thought it would be a nice time to start getting ready.

After my little chat with Jack I wouldn't tell Kai, Liam, or Blake anything because they would jump head first into the situation. I needed to know if Ogus knew anything about this and if he had anything to do with this as well. The new gang has been stealing shit from other gangs, and they're quite sloppy at it too.

So before I check out their base I need to gather as much information about them as possible, and I needed to know how much they've actually stolen because as far as I know, two fucking years is a long ass time. So they could've stolen loads of shit without getting caught, surprisingly.

Soldier's paws hitting the marble floor made me snap my head up towards the beautiful husky, he jumped on his paws over to me until he sat right beside me on the floor. I looked at the time and saw that I still had an hour to get ready so I pulled myself from my comfortable position on the window seat and into the bathroom for a proper cleaning.

I brushed my teeth before turning on the shower and stripped myself of my sweatpants and t-shirt and stepped into the warm water to let it ease my muscles. I washed, scrubbed, shaved, and rinsed until I was finally satisfied with how clean I was. I wrapped a towel around my body and used a smaller towel to dry my hair as I walked into the walk-in closet for something to wear.

After I had found the perfect outfit I sat at my vanity and blow dried my hair and curled it into big loose curls. I applied a small amount of foundation, filled in my eyebrows, applied light brown eyeshadow that was soon followed by some mascara, and put on some chapstick instead of lipgloss. My lips are so naturally pink it's almost scary.

After double checking my appearance I walked over to my bed and slid on my black lingerie, followed by my outfit for tonight.

My leather skirt hugged my waist perfectly and really helped define my curve, the see through maroon shirt made my honey like skin pop out and made me feel like a badass a little bit. I scurried into my closet to get the black ankle heels I had bought not too long ago and it made the outfit look perfect.

I just hoped the guys wouldn't make me change, wait, who am I kidding. The guys will probably be pissed at the outfit I'm choosing to wear, they'll most likely choose my outfit for me instead. Especially Kai, now that would be a total disaster.

I spritzed myself of my vanilla perfume and grabbed my small handbag and placed my phone and wallet inside, ignoring the fact that my mom is calling again. I clip on Soldier's leash and we make our way down stairs where the guys are probably waiting.

When I get downstairs the guys aren't there yet so I watch some TV to pass the time. After a few more minutes Liam calls my name from the foyer and I jump up and fix my outfit before stepping out to greet them.

"Woah woah woah where are you going?" Blake asked once he saw me, causing the others to turn their heads to look at me.

"Well it's almost seven I think we should be heading out now," I deadpanned as I walked towards the door.

"Not like that you are," Kai said blocking me from moving any further.

"Kai I can take care of myself. Now let's go" I said trying to move past him.

"Nope, not going," he growled.

An idea popped into my head and I just hoped that it would work. I stood up on my tippy toes a little bit and kissed Kai on his lips.

He seemed a little taken aback by it but soon let his lips sync with mine. I had almost forgotten the feeling of his lips against mine and I almost forgot how good it felt. The feeling of the tingles ran through my lips down to my hands as they wrapped around his neck. He pulled me into his body by my waist as he trailed his tongue on my bottom lip asking for access.

Instead, I pulled away and looked into his crystal blue eyes and whispered, "Please?"

He let out a sigh and cleared his throat before meeting my gaze, "Fine," he said as he rolled his eyes.

I jumped up excitedly and clapped my hands together as I bent down to be eye level with Soldier, "You ready boy?" In response he barked and I giggled as I skipped all the way to Robin.

During the drive to the restaurant I grew fidgety at the information Jack had given to me and if Ogus actually knew anything. If he did, that meant he was after Kai's gang as well - fuck, here I am saying that I'm not going to join a gang but I'm acting as if I'm already apart of it. But my brother is a big part of this, so therefore I've already been pulled in. But why would he want me to join his gang? Why would he go through all of this trouble just for his gang?

I pulled into a parking spot and rounded the car to let Soldier out. The boys pulled up next to me and we all huddled around before we went inside the fancy restaurant.

"Diamonds, I want you to be on your best behaviour, talking or not. Play fair," Kai warned pointing a finger at me.

I rolled my eyes at him and scratched Soldier's head to calm my nerves. He stood guard and looked around at our surroundings when panting excessively, it was so cute.

We headed into the restaurant where we were met with a group of at least four college boy waiters goofing around at the front. I hid behind Liam and Kai so they wouldn't talk to me while Blake was behind me, listening to their conversation.

"Reservation for Finnel," I heard Kai say, interrupting their conversation.

"Of course, right this way," The waiter said.

Kai and Liam walked ahead of the waiter and that's when their eyes fell on me. One of the boys slapped their friends chests to look at me and my eyes automatically fell onto my feet. I felt someone's hand on my back and lead me to the private dining room that was held all the way in the back and away from any onlookers. We passed the boys silently with my eyes still glued to the floor, but as we were walking away I still felt many eyes on my back.

I didn't feel insecure or self conscious, no, I just didn't like the attention. My mind still had to adjust being out in the world wearing clothes like these again, it was almost like I had just submerged from under a rock. And because I was still getting used to the eyes on my body, I had to control my temper about the attention I would be receiving. I didn't feel embarrassed or overwhelmed, I felt annoyed and irritated instead.

"You okay precious?" I heard Blake whisper into my ear.

"I would've dislocated their shoulders but Kai told me to behave," I hissed.

I heard him chuckle behind me and pat my back, "That's my girl."

After waiting for a few minutes Ogus, Jake, and Austin were escorted into the dining area as well. Ogus had a smug look on his face when he saw me but I just glared as he sat across from Kai.

"Deck of Cards, it's nice to see you again. And who is this little lady?" He asked as he eyed me up and down hungrily. I had forgotten that he's only seen me with my mask on.

"The person who defeated your fighter," Liam stated proudly.

Ogus, Jake, and Austin all looked at me confusedly. And when they realized what Liam was saying, they chuckled humorlessly.

"Now that can't be," Jake said matter of factly.

"Oh but it can, and it has," Kai said gesturing for them to sit. They all sat down cautiously and kept eyeing me, but I kept my head buried in the menu to avoid their gaze.

"Hi I'm Eli and I'm your server for today. Can I get you guys started on some appetizers?" I heard a voice say from above me. I looked up to see that it was one of the boys who had been gawking at me earlier, and he was looking right at me.

"Nevermind that, champagne all around," Kai said skimming through the menu.

"And serve us your specials today, it doesn't matter what it is, just get it done," Liam said authoritatively.

I nudged his shoulder and gestured to Soldier. He understood what I was trying to say and nodded his head, "And a steak for the dog," He added.

Eli looked up from his little notepad and looked over the table to see Soldier sitting right next to me. "I'm sorry, but we do not allow dogs in here ma'am," he said trying to sound as polite as possible, eyeing my breasts.

"Really? Because you're working right now," I spat glaring at him. Jake started choking on his own air and Austin looked at me with wide eyes, surprised of my little bark.

This guy was really testing me, he expects me to take Soldier outside when he's more tamed than any of these college boys working here? He's disgusting, and it doesn't matter that I wore a see through shirt, it matters whether or not these men can control themselves. It shows just how mature they truly are and I respect that, but these boys, I don't respect.

"Ma'am, I'm gonna have to call the manager-"

"Call your goddamn manager then and tell her Kai Finnel had brought their guard dog with them for dinner," Kai barked. He was now giving Eli one of his famous glares, daring him to do it.

Eli gulped with wide eyes, "N-no it's alright. I-is that all for you?" He stuttered trying to avoid eye contact.

"A new waiter," Blake hissed as he set down his menu. Eli nodded his head vigorously and quickly walked out of the room, leaving Austin to fill the silence with his low chuckle.

"So you do talk?" He asked referring to our last encounter. I raised an eyebrow at him as he held a smirk on his face. I shifted my gaze to Soldier and started running my fingers through his fur to calm me down.

"Now what is it that you were talking about yesterday Finnel? What did my member do to you that you had to take him?" Ogus asked after another waiter came back and set glasses of champagne down in front of each of us. I eyed the bubbly substance nervously and shifted my gaze to my lap.

"What's wrong step sissy?" Liam whispered next to me.

"I don't like alcohol," I muttered. I've never drank a single drop of alcohol in my life, and I don't plan on doing it either. I'm underage anyways which I usually use as my excuse to get out of events that involve drinking, and it always works.

Liam nodded his head and called over a waiter to get me a water. I gave him a thankful smile which he responded with rubbing my back.

"Your member had tried stealing a shipment from me the other day. My inner gang and I had to chase him down in another state for almost a whole week, and that caused some problems with my gang," Kai explained as he put his hand on my bare thigh. "Ogus were you at all aware of your member stealing from me?"

"No, Finnel, I wasn't. My gang is loyal to me and never gets away with such actions unless it's with a bullet in their head," Ogus started narrowing his eyes onto Kai and tilted his head. "Are you sure you're not making false accusations?"

"You dare question Kai's honesty?" Blake snapped. I had just realized that they speak so formerly, so exquisite and now I just feel out of place with my silence.

Ogus turned his head to me and arched an eyebrow, "What do you say sweetheart? Should I believe them?"

Jake scoffs and shakes his head, "You expect her to say a word to you Ogus?"

Kai tightened his grip on my thigh and glared at Jake, "Diamonds do they deserve your respect?" He asked not taking his eyes off of him.

"Respect? Is that all we needed to get her to talk? That's quite pathetic-"

"No, it isn't. Diamonds doesn't waste her breath on anybody who doesn't deserve it. And if you're not proving that you deserve it, she will not tell you what Jack had told her," Liam said through gritted teeth.

They expect me to talk to these imbeciles? First, they disrespect Kai, and second, they've been spitting on my respect. Do they take me as a fool? Do they not have any faith in us?

Ogus sighed and leaned back in his chair, still watching me, "What do I have to do to earn your respect?" He sighed.

I contemplated on talking to him but we needed to know if he knew anything about this, and to also be careful with his other members. He could be an ally, he could help.

I let out a sigh through my nose and spoke up, "No lying, no negotiating, and no stalling, got it?" I asked harshly.

He chuckled and sat up straighter to take a sip of his champagne, "And why should I trust that you're not lying?" He asked suspiciously.

"Potomu chto niktu ne poymet nas," I said calmly. He froze in his spot and looked at me in surprise, followed by Jake and Austin's shocked expressions as well. "Takim obrazom, nikto ne uznayet istoriyu, kotoruyu ya van razzkazhuz, krome vas samikh," I explained. (Translation: Because nobody will have to understand us. Thus, no one will know the story I will tell you)

Ogus wiped his lips with his napkin and eyed me skeptically but with a hint of surprise. I gave him a mischievous smirk and an arched eyebrow, "So what's it going to be Ogus?" I asked carefully.

Austin and Jake looked between me and Ogus in surprise before he finally spoke up, "I want to get to know you. Not personal subjects, but just some basic questions. This is my way of giving my respect to other's, by knowing my audience," he explained.

Just the basics, so nothing deep into my story. I can roll with that.

"Shoot," I cued.

He smiled and showed his white teeth, "What's your name?"

"Diamonds Illium," I said quickly.

"How old are you?"

"Seventeen," I replied hesitantly.

"Are you Russian?"

"No."

"How many languages do you know?" He asked curiously.

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you," I taunted.

"Try me," he pushed.

"Almost fifteen," I said smugly.

"Now how does a young girl like you know so much already?" Jake asked folding his hands onto the table.

"None of your concern," I said innocently.

"Alright, I'm convinced. Now tell me, what is it that keeps your mind busy," Ogus smirked.

"What do you know about Shattered Jewels?" I asked. A shiver went down my spine at the constant reminder of my dead brother.

"Nothing, why?"

"Because your Jack Thompson had told me he was the Second in Command of that little gang. Apparently they had been under the radar and have been stealing from other gangs and selling them as their own," I explained.

All heads shot my way in bewilderment at my words. I cleared my throat and continued to tell them what Jack had told me at the warehouse, only pausing when the waiters served us our food, and Soldier his steak.

After doing more talking than I have been doing in the past three years, all of the men in the room looked at me confused, shocked, astonished, and a little worried.

"What does this mean?" Ogus whispered.

"It means you have to be careful with your gang members, some of them may already be joining the Shattered Jewels as we speak. Jack had told me he had been with them for two years, and yet here you are stunned at the thought of your member betraying you," I teased.

"So what do you propose we do?" Jake asked worriedly.

"I propose you do a small background check on all of your members. Keep an eye on them, keep a chip on them if you have to. For as long as I know they could've possibly been stealing from your supply for awhile," I said shoving some rice into my mouth.

It was weird giving instructions like this, usually I'd be the one to listen and follow orders. It was quite scary but also kind of thrilling.

"Do you know where they're base is?" Austin asked suddenly. Now that part I didn't tell them. They would probably do the same thing Kai would do; show up guns blazing. No, I wanted to know what was actually going on in the inside, I needed to know what my brother was keeping from me.

"No, that he didn't tell me," I lied. The Royal Aces nodded their heads in understanding as well as Liam and Blake.

But Kai leaned over to my ear and whispered harshly, "We're gonna have a little talk later."
