Chapter 66
Yvette asked calmly, âDo you think youâre all that? Did you actually achieve everything you have so far on your own? If it werenât for my family, would you still be alive? If it werenât for Xavier, would you have become a famous actress?â
Yvette leaned close to Daphneâs ear, lowering her voice to a whisper, and mocked, âDid you think I was unaware of all the shady things you did abroad after graduation? Say, if Xavier and his family found
out, would they still accept you
Yvette had made extensive preparations before she returned. To get what she wanted, she even looked into Daphne. Then, she realized that Daphe, the supposedly pure goddess, had a very eventful few years abroad.
Daphneâs pupils dilated. She thought she had covered her tracks, but she was sorely mistaken. âSo, you didnât actually lose your memory. Believe it or not, Iâm going to tell Xavier!â
Yvette wasnât afraid at all. âOh, is that so? I dare you to. Then, youâd be able to find your videos at Xavierâs tomorrow.â
Daphne was tongueâtied. She couldnât believe that Yvette had become so sharpâtongued after she returned.
âYvette Snyder, what do I have to do for you to allow Xav and me to be together?â Daphne changed. tactics. âBesides Xavier, Iâve never done you wrong, have I? Iâm begging you to set Xay free and move on!â Her eyes misted over.
âBut when did you ever let me go?â Not wanting to look at her facade any longer, Yvette turned around and left.
After Yvette left, the tears in Daphneâs eyes dried up, and all she felt was fear. She was afraid that Yvette would tell Xavier about what she had done abroad. If Xavier found out, sheâd be done for,
âNo! This canât be! You were the one who forced me into this corner, Yvette Snyder!â Daphne cursed
inwardly.
The next day, Yvette was woken up by Kikiâs phone call. âYvvy, did you sell your song to Daphne?â
Puzzled, Yvette responded, âNope. Carnival Central Media, the agency Daphne used to be under, approached me to buy the rights to my song before, but I turned them down.â
When she heard that, Kiki was instantly enraged. âHave you seen the news about Daphneâs new song release, Yvvy? That songâits melody is plagiarized from yours!â
After hearing that, Yvette booted up her computer and found Daphneâs newly released song, âA Sliver of Lightâ. Yesterday, she had already felt as if she had heard it from somewhere before, but she hadnât paid much attention.
When she listened to it again that day, she finally remembered a song she had casually composed a few years ago.

âYvvy, I still remember that your song was titled âA Beam of Light.â I canât believe she didnât even bother to change the name of the song much.â Kiki scoffed. She remembered it because she really liked the song.
âI remember it now! I uploaded it to a niche platform back then and forgot about it,â Yvette said.
âThat bitch is unbelievable! So she plagiarized it because she couldnât buy the rights to it?â Kiki cursed while searching for information on her computer. âYvvy, did you know that some of the songs Daphne used to sing were bought, while others were stolen?â
âYeah, I know.â Yvette was livid as well. âI never thought sheâd plagiarize my work as well.â
To be honest, it wasnât a coincidence. Daphne had always wanted the songs of the foreign composer, Cameron Wells, so she hired someone to find and adapt her older compositions.
âWhatâs hilarious is that her song is now a huge hit.â Kiki wanted to confront Daphne in person to see how shameless she was. âIâm going to have someone send her a legal notice right now!â
âHold on,â Yvette stopped her. âWe canât just sue her like this.â
