At Titan Corporation, Jeremiah had just gotten someone to see Zoey off. Jackie looked upset as she approached him. “Mr. Jeremiah, are you really going to get engaged to her?”

She thought Zoey wasn’t suitable for him. After all, Zoey was too arrogant and focused too much on benefits, despite being an impressive woman herself.

Jeremiah leisurely took a sip of water. There were no discernible emotions behind his gentle gaze. “It’s time for me to get married at this age anyway.”

After all, most people his age already had children in kindergarten.

“If you’re getting married out of necessity, isn’t it a little-”

Before she could finish speaking, he interrupted her. “You should get back to work.”

Hearing that, Jackie had no choice but to leave angrily.

Soon, invitations for the engagement were sent out. Naturally, Xavier received one too. He was working when he got it. As he quietly listened to Mark telling him about Jeremiah and Zoey’s engagement, he leaned back into his chair.

“Shall I reject the invitation?” Mark suggested. He could tell that Xavier didn’t like Jeremiah.

“It’s my brother’s engagement. I have to attend it.”

Xavier still remembered how Yvette had called him Jeremiah a few days ago. He wanted to see what her reaction would be when she found out about Jeremiah’s engagement.

When he returned home, he passed the invitation to her. “Here’s the invitation to Jeremiah and Zoey’s engagement. Since he’s my brother, I’ve agreed to attend it.”

When Yvette received the news, she felt like she’d been hit by a truck. She wasn’t sad; it was just too

sudden.

“And you’re giving it to me because…”

“We’re husband and wife, so it’s only natural for you to attend it with me.”

She instinctively wanted to reject it, but Viola chimed in from the side, “As his sister–in–law, you should attend the engagement.”

Yvette was stunned to hear that. She wondered when Viola had started siding with Xavier.

“Alright. Should we prepare a gift too?”

Xavier hadn’t expected her to agree to it so easily and even talk about gifts. “I can get it myself.”

“How are you going to get it when you can’t see a thing? You should just let Yvvy tag along,” Viola added again.

Yvette thought Viola was acting weird that day. However, since the latter had spoken, she had no choice but to agree. “Yeah. Let’s get some gifts for the engagement tomorrow.”

“Sure.” Xavier subconsciously smiled and couldn’t help being grateful for Viola. He also had no idea why

“Is that all?” Yvette didn’t believe her fully.

“Of course!” She looked serious.

Yvette chose to let it go and grabbed Viola’s wrinkly hand. “I’ve made an appointment with Dr. Gideon Upton, an expert from abroad. He’ll come over to do a full check–up for you in two days. I heard that all the patients he treated went on to live up to 100 years of age.”

Yvette hadn’t managed to relax even once since she’d returned. She’d been busy at work and had also privately contacted Gideon, who was an expert on treating the elderly. There was no way she’d let Viola Teave her side.

This time, she’d finally managed to hire a well–known expert from abroad.
