The Lane family only had a family dinner for this New Year. Other than some close family members, no one else came. Despite that, the house was still full of people.

Clifford sat at the head of the table, peeling some fruits for Malcolm as he looked at the latter lovingly. Malcolm looked proud as well, and he ignored everybody else at the table.

“Great–Grandpa, I want that,” he requested while pointing at a bracelet a middle–aged man was holding.

The middle–aged man, Bruce Wilson, was Clifford’s nephew. Seeing how Malcolm wanted his bracelet, Bruce was upset, and he kept it. “Malcolm, this isn’t a toy. If you like it, I’ll get you a box of new ones tomorrow, alright?”

He’d had that bracelet for eight years, and there was no way he would let a brat have it.

“No way! I want that, Great–Grandpa…”

Hearing that, Clifford hurriedly patted Malcolm’s hand. “Alright.”

After saying that, he shot Bruce a glance. The latter had no choice but to give the bracelet away; he’d lost to a four–year–old child.

Malcolm only held it for a few seconds before throwing it to the ground. Then, the string snapped, and all the beads on it scattered across the ground. “What kind of nonsense is this? It’s not fun at all!”

Bruce felt as if his heart had shattered on the ground as well. However, he didn’t dare to be angry. After all, Malcolm was the only heir to the family at that moment.

Clifford didn’t have any other great–grandchildren, so he pampered Malcolm as much as he could. Seeing that, Zayden and Marlene were even prouder to be Malcolm’s parents.

At that moment, a cold figure walked into the room. “Grandpa.”

When Malcolm saw the man who looked like Xavier, he immediately became well–behaved.

“Yeah. Have a seat.” Clifford looked upset when he saw Jeremiah. For the past few months, Jeremiah had tricked everyone there badly.

After he reached the venue, everyone else arrived one after another as well. When Clifford didn’t see Xavier, he got impatient and asked Shannon, “Where’s Xay?”

“He’s on his way.”

Everyone in the Lane family wanted to see Xavier that day. They wanted to know why a proud man like him would agree to be impersonated by someone else. He’d even willingly transferred his shares away. The people who Xavier had messed with in the past were even more curious.

Xavier called Mark while he was on his way to the mansion. Mark instantly became anxious after hearing that he was heading back alone.

“Mr. Lane, what if something happens when you’re there alone? What should we do when that happens?”

Yvette raised her head in confusion. “Mr. Xyrax? How may I help you?”

“Did you let Mr. Lane go to the mansion alone?” he asked.

“Is there a problem?”

“Of course!” Mark didn’t care if the children were there anymore. “Mr. Lane has offended a lot of people. Now that he’s returning to the mansion by himself, he’s definitely going to be humiliated a lot.”
