Yvette clearly misunderstood Xavier’s concerns. She immediately explained how capable Ray was–he could take on ten people at once, didn’t have a temper, and was the kind who did more and spoke less.

The more Yvette showered Ray with praise, the more determined Xavier was to get rid of Ray.

“Have them all leave. I don’t like strangers,” Yvette added.

Did she not like strangers, or was it because she didn’t like unattractive people?

Xavier didn’t dare ask; he had the bodyguards leave first. Since Yvette refused to budge, Xavier decided to approach Ray instead.

Yvette assumed Xavier had acted on a whim and didn’t pay much attention to it.

Meanwhile, after Terrence learned of Yvette’s whereabouts from Yara, he set off for Sanginè County.

When he arrived at Yvette’s place, it was already 10:00 pm.

By this time, everyone was already resting. Braving the cold wind, Terrence knocked on the door.

Yvette hadn’t fallen asleep yet. When she heard someone knocking, she got out of bed to answer the door. As she opened it, she saw Terrence bundled up in a down jacket, covered in snow.

Without saying a word, Terrence tried to enter the house. However, Yvette blocked the doorway. “What are you doing here?” she asked.

“Let’s talk inside,” he replied. It was freezing outside.

Yvette eyed him warily and didn’t let him in. “If you have something to say, say it here.”

In the past, Terrence would’ve already pushed her aside, but since he needed her help, he could only stand at the door in the cold wind.

“Yvvy, can you help me with something?” he asked.

Yvvy?

Yvette’s lips curled into a cold sneer. “Mr. Terrence, I’m not ‘Yvvy‘ to you. Don’t forget, you’re the one who said that a deaf person isn’t worthy of being your sister”

“That was just something childish only a child would say. I didn’t mean it, so you shouldn’t take it to heart, “Terrence remarked as he glanced inside the house.

He thought it was ridiculous for Yvette to stay in such a shabby place instead of the comfortable Lane

Mansion.

However, he maintained a polite tone. “Yvvy, can you help me? I want to make a comeback. All you need to do is make a small sacrifice, which isn’t really a sacrifice-”

“Sacrifice? Who do you want to sell me to this time?” Yvette’s voice was cold as she clenched her fists.

“I’m just asking you to meet my brother–in–law. If you agree to see him, he promised to help us re- establish Snyder Group.”

Terrence placed a hand on Yvette’s shoulder and looked into her eyes. “Yvvy, don’t you want to restore Snyder Group? Don’t you care about Grandpa and Dad’s hard work?”

Meet his brother–in–law? Yvette was confused. “Who are you calling ‘brother–in–law‘?” she asked.

“Xavier, of course. I saw him at Titan Corporation today. He said that he’ll help me if you meet him,” Terrence replied promptly.

Yvette immediately tensed up. She knew that the man at Titan Corporation wasn’t Xavier, but Jeremiah.

She lowered her gaze, unsure of what to say. She’d considered meeting Jeremiah to ask about the past, but she was now a mother of two with another baby on the way. The past should stay in the past.

“I don’t want to see him,” she stated. What would she get out of meeting Jeremiah? Would they rekindle old feelings or reminisce about the past?

She looked at Terrence’s handsome face, which resembled James‘. “Terrence, you’re an adult now. Stop relying on others for everything. In this world, we must only rely on ourselves.”
