Zachary was clearly putting Xavier in a difficult spot, and Viola could tell immediately.
Right when she was going to refuse the offer, Xavier piped up, âYes, Iâll go fishing tonight.â
That caught the ladies surprised. Yvette wondered, âWhy so suddenly?â
Viola wasnât buying it. It was the cold winter, and the frozen layer over the river would be at least 12 inches thick. How was he going to catch fish from the river?
Even if he was going to bluff, he shouldâve made up something reasonable.
But reality proved them otherwise. There was nearly nothing that money couldnât do.
At 10:00 pm, freshly caught fish was delivered to their doorstep! It was Violaâs favoriteâcarp!
Xavier handed the fish over to Yvette. She then quickly made some soup with the fresh ingredients. She left some fish to share with the neighbors later, too.
Yvette wasnât curious about how Xavier had gotten the fish. After all, people were willing to help as long as they were paid.
However, Viola didnât want to have the soup. âHe caught them?â
âTo be more precise, he paid someone to catch them,â Yvette explained.
Viola shook her head. âI donât want to owe him anything.â
Placing the bowl aside, Yvette hugged her. âYouâre overthinking about this. Heâs staying at your place every day, so whatâs wrong with him buying some fish for you?â
Yvette knew what Viola was worried about. Viola was afraid that Yvette would be touched because of such a trivial matter and felt indebted to him.
In the end, Yvette managed to talk Viola into it. She was finally willing to have the
soup.
âThe fish over here is the best. Itâs fresh, not fishy.â Viola had never felt this blessed. In the past, she had never imagined having a daughter and grandchildren for a company in her late years.
After eating half a bowl of soup, Viola went to bed.

As Yvette gently held Violaâs hand, she thought of how time was chipping away at the latterâs physique.
Actually, Yvette couldnât bring herself to imagine her life without Viola. When Viola was gone, what was she going to do? Where should she go?
There was a saying that home would be anywhere oneâs parents would be. Viola was like her mother. Once Viola left, would she lose her home as well?
Zachary stood by the door gingerly. âMom.â
Yvette tucked Violaâs hand under the blanket before leaving the room. âWhat is it?â
âIâm going to Kikiâs place tomorrow. She asked you to come along to attend Mr. Cookâs wedding the day after tomorrow.â
Kiki was, in fact, afraid of attending Leonardâs wedding alone. But she was still going to attend it because of her ego. Perhaps she could get over him once she personally saw him get hitched with another woman.
âOh, I almost forgot about that. Okay, letâs go to her place tomorrow together.â
âOkay.â
The next day, before leaving, Yvette informed Hannah to take good care of Viola and to call her if anything happened. She also notified Xavier that she and Zachary were going to Tirion.
As soon as they left, Xavier asked someone to drive him there as well.
It was Sunday. Kiki had dolled herself up in a gown. Meanwhile, Zachary put on a suit and walked out of the fitting room.
Kikiâs eyes widened, twinkling. âGosh, you look dashing! Zac, come, let me pinch your cheeks.â
He scowled. âKiki, can you act your age?â
Yvette broke into a smile at their silly conversation. âAlright, we have to go now.â
Kiki stopped her mischief. The three of them took a designated car that drove them to Seasons Hotel.
