Chapter 326
Xavier stood at the doorway, listening to the conversation outside. Even though his expression
remained unchanged, his ears were bright red.
âGo on; answer them,â he said to the bodyguards.
Each bodyguard quickly shook their heads.
Soon, the older women started trying to introduce them to potential girlfriends.
Viola lived in the remote area of Sangine County. The locals had heard that Yvette was Violaâs employerâs daughter, but she had passed away due to some incident. Later, it had turned out to be a misunderstanding.
The reason they hadnât sought out Viola was because Xavier had come with many people and taken several neighbors away for questioning five years ago.
For a while, everyone thought Viola and her family had offended someone important. Because of that, they had been too afraid to contact Viola when the latter had come back.
Back then, they hadnât dared to lift their heads and look at Xavier when he had questioned them about Yvetteâs and Violaâs whereabouts. That was the reason they werenât able to recognize him.
Today, seeing Viola and Xavier, they couldnât help but sneak glances.
They initially felt sorry for him. However, upon seeing him, they admired Yvette for finding such a
handsome husband. They thought it wasnât necessarily a bad thing for him to be blind; he wouldnât be
able to cheat that way.
After a brief commotion, Xavier and Viola returned to their rooms.
Xavierâs ears were still red. He still remembered how Viola referred to him as her sonâinâlaw earlier.
On the other hand, Viola couldnât believe a dignified CEO like Xavier had been taken advantage of by an old woman. What she didnât know was that if it hadnât been for her, Ellie would have had her life cut short.
âIâve already sent someone to get a new caregiver,â Xavier mentioned.
âOkay.â Viola was still feeling weak from her outburst.
She endured the physical pain and told Xavier, âDonât think that Iâve forgiven you just because I helped you. Youâre still Yvvyâs husband, after all. I just donât like seeing you taken advantage of by outsiders.â
Forgive.
Xavier caught the keyword in the sentence.
Mark worked for Xavier. While he had told Xavier about his and Yvetteâs past, he had naturally glossed over the wrongs Xavier had done.
Thus, Xavier had no idea what he had done to Yvette in the past.

Mark had only told him about how he had tried to win Yvetteâs favor, bought back Snyder Residence, purchased Jamesâ relics, and reâestablished Snyder Group, among other things.
âViola, can I ask why you hate me so much? What did I do in the past?â
Hearing his question, Viola could no longer hold back. She recounted all the ways he had neglected Yvette.
âDonât you know? Back then, Yvvy knew nothing about what Yara and Terrence did! She bore the label of scamming you into that fraudulent marriage, silently enduring the bullying with no way to speak
out.
âI still remember how she swallowed an entire bottle of pills to sever her relationship with Yara. And you thought she was marrying an old man for 300 million dollars.
âThe doctor said that there is no painless death in this world. For someone like Yvvy, who was so afraid of pain, to reach that pointâ¦â
Xavier hadnât realized that his mind had altered his remaining memories to paint a rosier picture. He only remembered how much Yvette had loved him; he couldnât recall how he had treated her.
Suddenly, his head hurt intensely, as if it were about to explode. Fragmented memories seemed to be forcing their way out.
Not noticing his discomfort, Viola continued speaking.
âI used to live here alone. Every time Yvvy came to visit me, she would talk about how nice you were. But both of us knew you werenât nice at all. You were never nice, and you and Yvvy didnât suit each other the least bit.â
With tearful eyes, Viola looked at Xavier and continued, âYou know everything now. I am at the end of my life; I have no reason to lie to you.
âI beg you, let Yvvy go. Claude is a good man. When we were abroad, he took great care of us. Yvvy will surely be happy if she marries him.â
