Chapter 297

Leonard turned back to look at the limousine. He saw Mark get out of the car, followed by bodyguards and maids.

He didn’t say anything else and just got in his car and left.

Viola hobbled out slowly when she heard the commotion outside. When she saw Mark and the others, she hurriedly asked, “Who are they?”

Yvette didn’t want her to catch a chill. “Viola, go in and get some rest. I’ll tell you about it later.”

“Alright.” Viola nodded. She walked slowly back inside, her back hunched. Yvette closed the front door before walking toward Mark and the others.

When Mark saw how dilapidated the house looked on the outside, he felt trepidation on Xavier’s behalf. Xavier had always led a pampered life. How could he get used to living here?

Yvette walked over to them. She didn’t see Xavier, so she asked Mark, “Mr. Xyrax, what’s going on?”

“Madam Shannon told me to bring all Mr. Lane’s clothes and other things over here,” Mark replied.

It seemed that Leonard had been telling the truth. Shannon really was planning on having Yvette take care of Xavier. If she refused to do so, Shannon would sue her.

Yvette looked frosty. “Where’s Xavier?”

“Mr. Lane will be here soon.” Mark began directing the people behind him to start carrying the things inside.

“Wait!” Yvette stopped them at once. “Xavier can’t live here!”

Mark looked awkward. “Madam Shannon says that if you refuse to let Mr. Lane stay here, you’ll have to return to Dewberry Manor to take care of him. If you refuse to do that as well, then… I’m sur hat Mr. Cook has made himself clear.”

She wouldn’t be sent to prison while she was pregnant, but she would still have to go after the baby was

born.

Yvette’s fists clenched tightly. She was so angry that she didn’t know what to do.

Mark also thought that it was unfair. “Ms. Snyder–no, I should call you Mrs. Lane. Mrs. Lane, please take care of Mr. Lane. He’s been staying alone at Dewberry Manor and refuses to let anyone go near him. I don’t know how many injuries he’s suffered already.

The wind was chilly, and although Yvette was wearing thick clothing, she still looked very thin.
