Both Xavier and Mark were stunned. Yvette had always been gentle. However, she was actually as fierce as a tiger that day.

They only managed to get in the car with the bodyguards‘ protection. As they drove, there were some people following them as well. Who knew what the news would say about them this time?

Yvette’s eyes turned slightly red as she sat in the car. Xavier sat next to her with his hands placed on his thighs, feeling uneasy.

“You sure have been through a lot in the past,” he suddenly said after a long while.

When she heard that, she pursed her lips and said nothing. Since he couldn’t see or hear her, it felt like his heart was pierced by a knife.

“From what I can remember, you loved me a lot. I also…” He didn’t say he loved her as well.

That was because he had heard what she had said at that courthouse that day. All she had were complaints about him. It turned out that he had treated her badly in the past.

Yvette still said nothing. She buried her head between her legs and stopped herself from crying. She had suffered a lot in the past few years.

However, everyone else thought she had benefited a lot from Xavier’s spotlight. Now that he was blind, they deemed her ungrateful for wanting a divorce.

Xavier’s hearing had become more sensitive than ever after he had turned blind. He could hear her crying a little. He raised his hand and placed it on her shoulder.

Yvette froze. Throughout all these years, he had never said sorry or apologized to her in any way before. She looked up in surprise and saw the man in front of her placing his hand on her shoulder.

“Xavier, why did you have to lose your memories?”

He was speechless once more.

She moved his hand away. “Don’t touch me.”

His hand froze in the air for a long while before he pulled it back. “Alright.”

That response made her believe that he really had lost his memories. Not only that, but it seemed that his personality had changed as well.

However, it didn’t change anything at all. He knew she wanted to cry, so he coldly said to Mark and the driver, “Stop the car and get out, you two,”

“Yes, sir.” They followed his instructions and got out.

Xavier and Yvette were the only ones left in the vehicle. It was so quiet that they could hear each other’s breaths.

She didn’t say anything. He was worried that she had left, so he gently touched her. When he realized she was still there, he relaxed a little.

“Don’t worry. Even if we don’t get a divorce, I won’t bother you from now on. I won’t even be a burden to you.”

Yvette still said nothing. Xavier couldn’t help being gentler than before. “Let’s get a divorce again after six months, alright? I won’t go back on my word.”

“Sure. It’s a deal,” she finally said.

He felt hurt as he forced out a smile. “Yeah, it’s a deal.”

After she had left, he felt as if his heart had been torn into pieces. He was in great pain.

Mark got back into the car and asked, “Are we going back to the hospital now, Mr. Lane?” Xavier’s wounds hadn’t fully recovered yet.

He shook his head. “Take me to the place I’m staying at.”

“Understood.”

Xavier didn’t know where he had been living all this time. He had only remembered one person when he had woken up, and that was Yvette.

He could only remember her face and voice. There was nothing else on his mind. He only knew Mark because Shannon had told him that they had worked together for years.

After Mark dropped Xavier off at Dewberry Manor, he wanted to call the medical staff over. However, Xavier interrupted him. “I don’t like having strangers around.”

Upon hearing that, Mark immediately ended the call. “In that case, shall I take care of you myself?”

“Like I said, I don’t like strangers.” Xavier sounded colder than ever.

Mark froze on the spot. Xavier was treating him like a stranger too.
