It was snowing heavily outside. Yvette had a long dream, and she didn’t remember what it was about. All she could hear were voices next to her.

“She’s pregnant?”

“Yes. She’s been pregnant for eight weeks.”

When Shannon heard the doctor, there was a hint of joy in her furious gaze on Yvette. Eight weeks ago, Yvette had been with Xavier, and that meant the child she was carrying belonged to him!

“Dr. Lloyd, you have to take good care of her, especially the child in her belly. You mustn’t let anything happen to them.”

“Don’t worry, Madam Shannon.”

There was no way she wouldn’t be worried. Xavier was still in the ICU in critical condition, so she couldn’t let anything happen to her grandchild in Yvette’s belly.

When Shannon left the ward to see Xavier, Yvette opened her tired eyes and finally saw her surroundings. She couldn’t help placing her hand on her belly and looked downward at her legs in gauze.

“Oh, you’re awake, Ms. Snyder!” a nurse said when she saw Yvette was awake. She was about to help the latter change her gauze.

Yvette said with a dry mouth, “My baby…”

“The baby’s fine. You’re only hurt on the outside and have some slightly worse injuries on your legs.” The nurse added, “Fortunately, Mr. Lane protected you. Otherwise, things would’ve been bad.”

The passenger seat was the most dangerous place in a car.

Yvette immediately asked, “How’s Xavier?” While she was under surgery, she faintly heard the doctor saying that he might die.

“Mr. Lane is still in the ICU, and things aren’t looking too great for him,” the nurse answered.

Yvette wanted to get up, but the nurse stopped her. “Even if you get up now, you won’t be able to see him. You should rest a while first.”

Her head was still spinning, so she had no choice but to lie down again.

Hearing that she had awakened, Kiki and Ray hurried to the hospital.

When the crash had happened, Ray had been following their car from behind. Unfortunately, he hadn’t been able to stop it from happening in time. After it had happened, he had instructed someone to find out who was behind the accident.

Kiki checked how Yvette was doing. “Yvvy, how are you feeling now? Do you feel any pain?”

Yvette shook her head. “I’m fine.”

Ray stepped forward and said, “The person who crashed into you has been captured. He’s Mr. Lowe from overseas. He did it to exact revenge on Xavier.”

He told her about how Xavier had snatched someone else’s business abroad. After she heard about it, she finally realized that Xavier had never let Tony and the rest go for messing with her.

Kiki grabbed her hand and carefully said, “Yvvy, the judge was going to approve your divorce today. However, Leonard reported what had happened to you two, and the results had changed. The divorce was disapproved.”

Yvette didn’t react at all when she heard that. “I understand. Don’t tell Viola and the boys about what happened to me.”

Kiki nodded quickly. “Don’t worry. I’ve already told Mr. Septer about it.”

Ray stood guard outside Yvette’s ward, while Kiki accompanied her inside the ward. Then, she heard that Shannon had learned about the pregnancy. “What should we do now?”

Yvette was caught in a conundrum. “I don’t know. We’ll have to see if Xavier is going to wake up.”

“I took a peek at the ICU earlier. There were bodyguards all over the place, and no one else could enter the ward. When I asked the doctor about his situation, they wouldn’t tell me either,” Kiki softly said. Xavier was the core of Lane Group. So, it made sense why his condition wouldn’t be leaked that easily. “Kiki, you and Ray should take a rest. I’ll call you if I need anything.” Yvette wanted to rest for a moment.

“But you’re alone at the hospital…”

“The doctor said I was only hurt on the outside. It’s nothing serious. I’ll be able to get out tomorrow after a night’s rest,” she explained.

“Alright.” Then, Kiki finally left. Meanwhile, Ray stood guard outside the hospital.

After they had left, Yvette looked at the snow outside and fell into deep thought.

If Xavier died, she would never be at ease.
