Chapter 271

After Yvette was done talking, she ended the call. Meanwhile, Xavier was so angry that he almost smashed his phone.

Mark carefully stood aside and didn’t dare to make a noise. Xavier felt like there was a boulder on his chest, making him feel stuck.

“How much time do we have?”

“Half a month.”

After the lawsuit had been accepted, they had half a month to prepare all the documents required.

Mark hadn’t expected Yvette to be so cruel either. He had assumed that she would forgive Xavier after a while and be Mrs. Lane. After all, the Lane family had a great business, and it was a great achievement for someone like her to marry Xavier.

Xavier calmed down after a while and asked, “Who is her lawyer?”

“Her friend, Kiki Torres.”

He looked at Mark and said, “I remember telling you to look into her before. Her ex–boyfriend was a lawyer too, right?”

The latter understood what he was trying to say immediately and smiled. “He’s a great lawyer named Leonard Cook. I’ll make the arrangements now.”

Then, Mark left the office in a hurry.

When it came to lawsuits, no one could win against Lane Group. Xavier had been in many lawsuits in recent years, and he had always been able to find out the other party’s weaknesses in no time. However, things were slightly interesting this time because he was going up against Yvette.

He drove to the private apartment where Kiki was staying and parked downstairs.

He managed to get many people’s attention in no time after stopping his limited–edition luxurious car at a place like that.

Xavier didn’t care about those people at all. He picked up his phone and called Yvette. “Come out. Let’s have a chat.”

Ten minutes later, she came out in her thick jacket and immediately saw Xavier–standing next to his car.

His deep eyes never looked away from her. As she walked toward him, she turned on the voice recorder on her.

“What do you want to talk about?”

“Get in the car first.” He opened the door.

However, she wasn’t willing to get in the vehicle. Instead, she took a step backward. “Let’s just talk here.”

“Get in now!” He couldn’t help raising his voice a little. When he noticed that he was talking loudly, he lowered his voice again. “Aren’t you cold?”

She got into the car, and Xavier got into the driver’s seat and started driving. He didn’t say anything at all

Yvette was afraid of how stressful it felt. “Can we stop somewhere to talk?”

However, he started driving faster and stayed silent. She couldn’t help tightening her fists. There was snow on the road, and they could easily get into an accident with how fast he was driving.

“Stop the car, Xavier!”

He still didn’t listen to her, and the car picked up its speed. Yvette looked outside the window as the view zoomed past her, and her heart was racing. “Are you trying to get us killed? Stop the car!”

He still wouldn’t stop, and she was so anxious that her eyes were turning red.

“Xavier! Stop the car! I’m scared!”

He slammed on the brakes, and she violently jolted forward. Fortunately, she had the seatbelt on and was in one piece. Xavier blocked her from the front with his body, holding her tightly in his embrace.

“So, you’re capable of feeling fear too? I told you to go home after you were done making a scene, did 1?”

Yvette looked at him with reddened eyes. She wanted to hit him, but he saw it coming and grabbed her

wrist.

“You’re crazy!” she scolded.

He tightened his grip around her wrist and said, “Drop the lawsuit.”

She was in great pain, but she wouldn’t agree with him. “I’ll never do it. You’re just proving that you’re a madman with a terrible temper by driving recklessly to threaten me.” She purposely provoked him, wanting to record more proof with the voice recorder.

However, he unexpectedly blocked her mouth by kissing her while saying. “That’s right. I’m a madman. Otherwise, why would I want you after you had an affair and had a child with someone else during our marriage?”
