Chapter 24
In the first class section of the plane, Yvette looked out the window at the fluffy white clouds. Memories from four years. ago replayed in her head.
At first, she had been depressed. Thus, she had sought Claudeâs help and faked her death. After leaving the country, she had given birth to a pair of twins, who were preterm.
Initially, things had been smooth sailing. Unfortunately, her youngest son, Noah Snyder, had been born sickly due to preterm birth.
-Early this March, he d been diagnosed with clonal disease
of the hematopoietic stem cells, also widely known as
leukemia.
The doctors had told Yvette that a cord blood stem cell transplant could be used to treat the cancer. Thus, over the past few months, she had been racking her brain for ways to obtain Xavierâs sperm.
However, she had failed.
The earlier the transplant was be done, the better Noahâs chances would be. Thus, Yvette could only go and get it herself.
If it hadnât been for Noah, she would never go back to that place, much less look for Xavier again!
Before the plane took off, Yvetteâs best friend, Kiki Torres, sent her a message. âIâm really busy these days. Once Iâm back, Iâll help you deal with Xavier and teach that bitch Daphne a lesson.â

Yvette had met Kiki in college. After graduation, Kiki had gone abroad while Yvette had gotten married, so they had lost touch. Four years ago, when Yvette had moved to Asnea, she had run into Kiki by chance.
Yvetteâs heart grew warm as she read Kikiâs message. âOkay, â she replied.
Then, she turned her phone off.
In Tirion, rain never stopped pouring during the summer.
By the time Yvette g off the plane, it was already 7:00 pm. Gazing at the familiar yet foreign place, she looked like she was in a trance.
As she left the airport, a luxurious Lincoln stopped in front of her on the dot. The driver got down and opened the door respectfully. âThis way, please, Ms. Snyder.â
Yvette nodded. âThanks.â
The driver smiled warmly. âYouâre a friend of my boss, so thereâs no need to be so courteous. He has already asked someone to arrange accommodations for you.â
The boss in question was none other than Claude.
If Yvette hadnât asked Claude for help four years ago, she would never have found out that he was just being humble when he said he was a small business owner.
Claudeâs business was flourishing overseas. He dabbled in both legal and illegal dealings. Otherwise, he wouldnât have been able to help Yvette and her twins avoid Xavierâs

In the car, Yvette watched the beautiful scenery fly past her outside the window. Tirion hadnât changed much over the last four years. Perhaps the only change was posters of
Daphne plastered all over the buildings.
In the past four years, Daphneâs career had advanced. She wasnât just a singer and actress but also a top celebrity in the entertainment industry. Her stardom was unparalleled.
Yvette averted her gaze.
An hour later, the car came to a stop outside a neighborhood known as Mansions Nine. It was a very quiet neighborhood. Even at night, it was stunning.
After Yvette was taken to her accommodation, she immediately informed Viola that she had made it safely.
âViola, whereâs Zac?â Yvette found it a bit weird that she didnât see Zachary anywhere.
Viola laughed and replied, âHeâs reading in his room.â
Other kids his age didnât even know how to read yet, but Zachary was exceptionally smart. Not only could he read Perlin, he could also read Hernese.
Sometimes, when he talked about certain topics, he sounded just like an adult.
Yvette remembered hearing from Shannon that Xavier had been just like that when he was younger.
It was because of Xavierâs innate intelligence that the Lanes

had invested so much effort into developing him. He had been the golden child, even at a young age.
Viola took her phone to Zacharyâs room. She could hear him quietly putting something away
âGrandma, you forgot to knock again. Thatâs very impolite,â Zachary said sagely, sounding like an adult.
Viola was slightly embarrassed. âOh, Iâm so careless. I forgot again. Zac, donât get mad at me.â
After Zachary put away his things, he turned his bright gaze to Viola. âI wonât.â
With that, he took t⦠phone with his small hands so he could look at Yvetteâs face on the screen.
