Daphne had said that to see if Xavier would get jealous.

But she also wanted to look for someone else. After all, there were a lot of people with wealth and power

in Tirion.

With her looks and her reputation, it wouldn’t be hard for her to marry someone from a great family. She shouldn’t ruin herself for Xavier.

“I understand.” He was calm as he got in the car right away. Then, the car drove away in front of her. Daphne stood there alone, feeling extremely upset.

Yvonne approached her quickly from behind. “How did it go, Daph? Did Mr. Lane say no?”

Daphne looked terrible as she lied, “He didn’t say anything. I think he’s angry.”

“It looks like he still cares about you. If Yvette hadn’t returned, he would’ve married you by now.”

That was a lie to comfort her. Yvette had been gone for five years, yet Xavier had never once thought of marrying Daphne.

“I don’t think he’ll marry me. After all, I’m an orphan who isn’t worthy of him.” Daphne looked disappointed.

Yvonne thought so as well. After all, Xavier only treated Daphne well for a reason. He probably wasn’t willing to marry her because he was out of her league.

“Don’t say that, Daph. Don’t you know? Wealthy people like us think you’re really impressive. We all have to rely on our parents, and you’re the only one who has worked hard on your own. If he doesn’t want to marry you, someone else will do it. So what if you can’t have him?” Yvonne comforted her.

Daphne nodded.

Suddenly, a long Lincoln stopped in front of them. A man’s elegant face came into their view when a window was opened. “Alright, my boyfriend is here to pick me up. See you.” Yvonne happily approached

the car.

Daphne silently watched her get into the car and asked Laura, “Who’s Yvonne’s boyfriend?”

“He’s Trevor Lumber. His father owns a fashion business,” Laura answered.

Daphne looked away after a long time.

When Xavier returned to the mansion, Yvette didn’t ask him about Daphne.

“Xav, didn’t you say you would bring me to visit Noah today?” she asked.

“Let’s go.” He didn’t forget his promise. After returning from the award ceremony, he had come looking

for her.

“Can I go alone?”

Xavier looked at her with a piercing gaze. She had been acting strangely since the day before. It felt similar to how she had acted when she had been about to bring up the divorce five years ago.
