Chapter 191
Xavierâs eyes reddened as he looked for Yvette like a madman. However, he still didnât see her after searching in multiple rooms, and he was about to send some people to check the airport.
When he arrived at the backyard, he saw Yvette sitting on a chair there. He finally stopped feeling anxious.
Yvette couldnât sleep, so she was getting some fresh air outside. Then, she saw Xavier approaching her anxiously. 1
She had thought that he wouldnât return that night. As they looked into each otherâs eyes, he ran to her and pulled her into his embrace.
Yvetteâs body was slightly stiff under the dim light. She didnât see how red his eyes were or how anxious he was.
âWhy arenât you in the bedroom at this hour?â Xavier asked in a deep voice.
She thought he was being ridiculous. âWhy must I be in the bedroom at this hour?â
Xavier was stunned, and he didnât know how to answer her. He also didnât know why he had felt so anxious when he couldnât find her earlier.
Before he could say anything, Yvette asked, Is Daphne alright?â
âSomeone grazed a knife against her neck, and sheâs still receiving treatment at the hospital now.â He told her the truth.
When she heard that, she couldnât help being impressed by Daphne. In order to achieve her goals, Daphne had been willing to be cruel to herself. âDid they catch whoever did it?â
When Xavier heard that, his gaze turned cold. âNo. However, we found out that Claudeâs bodyguards were there other than her fan.â
Yvette was still in his embrace. When she heard what he had said, she slowly looked up at him. âWhat do you mean by that?â
Seeing how her expression shifted, Xavier gulped a little. âDid you tell Claude something?â
He didnât think she would hurt Daphne. However, that didnât mean that Claude wouldnât do anything to hurt Daphne for her.
Yvette suddenly felt her throat closing up as her eyes started to tear up. âDo you think that I told Claude to hurt Daphne?â
After so many years, she had given up on Xavier. However, it still felt terrible when he accused her.
Her pitiful tears were like needles piercing through his heart. He softly said, âDaphne saved my mom before, so I donât want her to die. If you have a problem with her, you can tell me about it. Donât tell another man to do something about it.â
Yvette pushed him away immediately with an empty look in her eyes. âWhat makes you think that Iâm upset with her and want to hurt her? Why would I tell Claude to hurt her? Whereâs your proof?â
Xavier didnât say anything, and she added, âYouâre the reason why Daphne and I are enemies. But nowâ¦.. She stopped for a second before smiling bitterly. âItâs been five years. What makes you think that I still
love you enough to hurt someone else because of you?â

The cold wind blew in the dark night. However, it seemed as if Xavier couldnât feel it at all. He approached Yvette slowly. âWhat did you say?â
She looked at his cold gaze and answered, âIâm a fool. But Iâm not foolish enough to hurt a person for a
man.â
Xavier felt like he was suffocating. He forced Yvette into a corner and punched the wall next to her. The punch landed loudly, and it scared Yvette so much that she couldnât help flinching.
Xavier didnât know what was wrong with him as well. He slowly got closer to her until they could hear each otherâs breath. âAre you saying that you donât love me anymore?â 1
Yvette realized that she had said something wrong because she had been too angry earlier. If she were to offend him now, he might find out something. Then, her plans would be foiled.
She clenched her fist tightly and said something that went against her conscience. âI donât know how Iâm supposed to love someone who doesnât even love me
