I can feel my body wrapped in the thin blanket. It's so warm. I don't even want to open my eyes right now. A small smil forms in my lips, as I tug the blanket even closer to myself. It's been a while since I have woken up happy. Probably a few years to be honest.
Not to far away from me, Squirrely and Seungmin are quietly whispering to each other.
"I'm shaking." Squirrely says. "Look at my hands."
"Drink some water and breathe ok??" Seungmin tries to calm him down.
I frown as I hear their conversation. A second later Squirrely takes a few deep breaths and stands up walking up and down the room. Not wasting anymore time, I slowly ruffle on the bed attracting everyone's attention.
I sit up and rub my eyes before slowly opening them. Squirrely immediately turns around and smiles at me. He looks nervous, and his hands are glued together in front of him, in hopes I wouldn't see the sweat that is collecting on them.
"Morning." He says.
"Morning." I say back while still trying to fix my vision.
"I hope you slept well, because we need to go." My head turns toward Seungmin who is sitting on one of the chairs. He probably notices my curious gaze, cos he continues not long after. "It's 11.13am and the presidents conference is in 47 minutes." As those words leave his mouth, I immediately winden my eyes fully awoken now.
"What!!" Why wouldn't they wake me up?! How the hell did I even manage to sleep until now?! I jump out of the bed and enter the bathroom. In less than 30 seconds I fix my hair, do my business and right after exit again. I don't know why but I'm nervous. Not just nervous but excited as well. The two just look at me with slight surprise before speaking up.
"We should make something clear first." Seungmin speaks up. "The conference is in a public place, to be more specific on the largest square in Seoul and there are going to be a lot of people, so staying unnoticed is going to be extremely hard. Now. We will need at least 20 minutes to get to the square, which leaves you guys with around 20 minutes to do your thing. Since seeing Jisung well and on his feet won't be enough, he will have to speak up about what happened in the past." He pauses looking up at Squirrely.
I can see how nervous he actually is. We have never really talked about this in details, but he has asked about how we plan to make things right many times. I didn't want to scare him before, so I told him the recording will do most of the job, but now we don't even have it.
"Ye- ugh.. I will. I can do it." He says with his tone filled with hesitation.
"Ok, and one last thing. We might get into a lot of trouble while trying to forcefully fix this. This is our only chance so don't screw it up and do whatever it takes to succeed." Well I haven't seen him this determined in a while that's for sure. But yes. I believe we can succeed. We can do it. Squirrely can do it.
We all nod in agreement to what Seungmin said and right after the door of our room slam opened.
"You have to go. The police got a report about one of you three this morning, they are searching the rooms right now." Jeongin says with a heavy breath. I immediately reach down for my backpack and look through the door for the cops. Two police cars are parked in front of the motel, and 4 cops are searching the rooms downstairs.
"We need to make a run for it." I say as I step back into the room. While Seungmin just nods at me, I notice Squirrely panicking in the corner of the room. I quickly walk to him and make him look at me.
"It's ok. Just breathe." He takes a few deep breaths never breaking eye contact with me. Right after he seems like he has calmed down at least a little bit I take his hand in mine.
"Just follow me and you'll be fine." He nods at me assuring me I can trust him to take care of himself. I turn around and make eye contact with Seungmin silently agreeing that it's best to go now. He peaks through the door and after taking a clear look he uses his finger to signals us to move out. With my hand holding Squirrely's, I pull him forward in the process I also take our two caps that were laying on the drawer. We exit the room and I pull him next to me. With the hand that is holding the caps I put one of them on his head, in hopes we'll be less noticeable.
I put the other cap on my own head, and walk down the stairs in a normal pace. Not to far behind us Seungmin makes his way toward the stairs too.
We reach the last staircase when a door of the last room open behind me. My body freezes in less then a second as I stand there with Squirrely right next to me. I turn my head just enough to see two officers standing 3 meters away from us. They noticed us by now and are already approaching us, but I can't move even a single muscle.
"Excuse me miss. We are doing a check in, may I see your ID??" One of them says. I notice Seungmin stopping just above the staircase not sure about what to do. After he notices the situation he moves back in order for the police not to see him as well.
"Miss??" He says again this time closer to me them before. I can feel Squirrely's hand tremble in mine. I lift my gaze from the ground to him and notice his eyes stabbing right through my soul. He is scared as fuck, so now it's not the time for my brain to die.
"Mi-" Before the police gets too close to us I squeeze Squirrely's hand and march forward. I move my legs faster than ever before, running behind the building and taking every possible turn. I look at Squirrely and resurse him that this is going to turn out fine, and that we are not going to get caught. Even though his eyes are so lost and clear panic is shown inside of them, he keeps running next to me.
I can hear the two police officers shout behind me. They've clearly figured it out we are the ones they are looking for. But I don't stop.
I keep going forward all until I see another corner that I can turn. I pull Squirrely with me and run through a short hallway to the front of the motel again. There I notice a police man in front of me making me fall into instant panic. We stop, and for a second just look at each other before he makes a fast step forward trying to catch my shirt. I dodge his hand and quickly pass him since he is pretty old. We get pass him and are instantly meet with a police woman which just crumbles down in front of us.
I look up confused and notice Jeongin holding a large stick in his hand.
"I'm sorry!!" He yells when the woman crumbles down, and throws the stick on the ground right next to her. By now the two policemen that were chasing us are standing two meter away from us. "Run straight through the grass!!" Jeongin shouts at me making me look at him with my confused eyes. "JUST RUN!!" He shouts even louder making me squeeze Squirrely's hand and once again drag him after me. I just run straight as Jeongin said, through the grass jumping over any obstacle that might come in my way, with Squirrely following closely behind. We avoid a few trees on our way until we reach the road. I look around for a split second before a car pulls over 50 centimeters in front of my feet.
"Get in!!" Seungmin shouts through the rolled down window. I immediately open the door and let Squirrely enter first before getting in myself. This time I manage to close the door before Seungmin drives off.
"Well, that didn't go according to the plan." He says looking back at me through the reverse mirror.
"We still have plenty of time. Just- just drive." I say still stunned from everything that happened just now. Not even a second later the sirens of the two police cars from before, start ringing not to far away from us. I let out a long sight as I realize this situation has just gotten a lot worse than I expected. I mean, what did I even expect for them to let us go just like that.
"Fuck." Seungmin curses under his breath which kinda surprises me. He rarely curses and that says something considering the situation we are in right now. I let out a heavy sight as my head turns back to eye how far the police is. Am I seriously in a car chase right now?? Like seriously in my boring life I got to live this moment, when I am passionately running away from the police. Maybe I just made this sound like I'm having fun while I'm super excited when, but in reality I'm scared as fuck.
"They are not to far." I say as my eyes see the powerful blue and red light not to far from us. In that moment Seungmin hits the gas, making me and Squirrely both lose our balance for a moment. The car goes 5 times faster than before skipping every thing on the road that is possible to skip. As I try to adjust to the sudden speed up, I notice Squirrely trembling next to me.
His eyes keep going around, probably even faster then this car and he keeps rubbing his palms against his thighs tiring the sweat off of them. He must be so nervous right now, and since he gets into his panic mode really easily, this is beating him up mentally more then anyone of us.
I catch his attention by grabbing him by the wrist, stopping him from rubbing his palm on his thighs. He look up at me with a clear expression that shows me he is scared to death right now. I simply lean forward and take him in a tight hug to try to relax him as much as possible.
"It's ok." I say with a low and gentle tone. A second later I feel his arms around myself and he hugs me even tighter burying his face into my shoulder.
"What if w-" Knowing what is about to come out of his mouth I cut him off.
"Don't think that way. We will be fine. We are minutes away from ending everything. Nothing can stop us now." A few seconds pass by before he speaks up again.
"...I don't even know if I'm scared or nervous right now."
"Probably both." He gives me a weak chuckle before I pull him away. I look at his face observing him for a moment.
"Did you catch your breath?? We will probably run again." He just nods at me, and right after I give him a small smile in encouragement.
"We won't get there on time guys." Seungmin suddenly says pulling both mine and Squirrely's attention on himself.
"What?? Why?? I thought we have enough of time:" I say.
"In order for them not to catch up so fast, I have to make a lot of random turns. To be honest I don't even know where exactly we are right now."
"It's ok. It's better not to get caught then to come on time. Take us as close as you can, we will go on foot further." I answer back to him, as my head turns back to see how far behind the police is.
Damn it, we are lucky people are at work right now or otherwise we would probably get stuck in the trafics right away. Even now there are a lot of people and cars, imagine if we would be driving here when it's lunch time, or when the shifts switch. Now that would be hell.
