Chapter 509:
Realizing he had said more than he intended, Josue sighed, leaned back in his seat, crossed his arms, and propped up his legs, falling silent.
Bryan softly toyed with Gabrielaâs chubby little hand. Then, a thought struck him, causing his expression to darken. âWhy are they here?â
âLike I said, they want to bring me back as a live-in son-in-law,â Josue responded with irritation.
Bryan straightened up, contemplating for a moment before decisively stating, âThatâs not possible. Your ex-wifeâs brother has a unique status and canât move freely between countries. He wouldnât come here just for your ex-wife.â
A thought began to take shape in Bryanâs mind.
Josue quickly caught on. âYou think theyâre here because of Travisâ biological father? But heâs notâ¦â
Josue left âhereâ unspoken as he suddenly recalled that he wasnât sure where Travisâ biological father was now.
âIâll find out for you. This isnât something to take lightly.â Josue called his ex-wife back. âWhat are you two really doing here? Donât lie to me. Your brother canât just travel freely⦠Damn it, Iâm not going to meet you!â
His ex-wife hung up before he could finish speaking.
Josue threw his phone onto the table, ran his hands through his short hair, and said, âShe wants to meet me before explaining why theyâre here.â
Bryan placed his car keys on the table and pushed them toward Josue. âTake my car.â
Josue had just arrived at the airport and taken a taxi straight to the café.
galnovâ¯âsâ¤com keeps you updated After a brief moment of shock, Josue said, âIf she takes me back forcefully, arenât you helping her? Show some compassion!â
âIâm just helping a friend get what he wants,â Bryan replied. âFinish your coffee and get going.â
Josue thought for a moment. He believed nothing was more important than his friendâs safety, so he took the keys and headed out.
Josueâs ex-wife, Edna Cortez, was of mixed heritage, with stunning eyes and a remarkable figure.
While running his venture capital firm overseas, Josue had met Edna during business dinners.
One thing led to another, resulting in a one-night stand and a quick marriage within three days.
It was the most impulsive decision Josue had ever made.
Within three months, Edna had become pregnant.
Then, she set her conditions: she wanted their child to inherit her familyâs fortune, and if Josue wanted to remain with her, he would have to become a live-in son-in-law.
Josue had been furious at her terms, so he divorced Edna.
They had no contact for years until Josue reached out to Ednaâs brother for information about Bryan.
When Josue arrived at the hotel and found Ednaâs room, he knocked twice. The door swung open, and a slender figure rushed out to embrace him.
