Chapter 383:
The old butler assisted Stella to her feet, and they slowly made their way back to her room for some rest. The call felt like a farewell.
Once the phone was set down, the silence in the room was suffocating for Eileen.
After a prolonged moment, Eileen finally looked at Bryan, her face breaking into a smile. âIâve made peace with it. Maybe you should talk to Stella. The solitude of the mountain can be overwhelming, and sheâs not as young as she used to be. What if she gets sick and thereâs no hospital nearby? Perhaps itâs better for her to stay there.â
âDoctors are with her. Sheâs safe on the mountain. Besides, it keeps her away from Brandonâs clutches. Itâs her sanctuary, and itâs not like sheâs there forever.â Bryan tucked his phone away and softly brushed his fingers against Eileenâs earlobe. Leaning forward, he kissed her deeply. âLetâs get to the point. Are you completely sure you wonât reconsider Gabriela taking my surname?â
âShe wonât take your surname,â Eileen replied, her forehead touching his as she looked him squarely in the eye. Her tone was unwavering. âSheâs my daughter, and she will keep my surname.â
Bryan gently bit her lip, but despite the softness, she still let out a cry of pain. He instantly released her, taking a sip of his drink to ease the mark left by his teeth.
âI remember what you said. No regrets in the future,â he warned.
He released her and saw the deep teeth marks on her lip, feeling a rush of remorse. Tenderly, he stroked her lip with his fingertips and suggested, âYou can bite back tonight. Letâs go home and check in with Gabriela.â
With that, he opened the car door and stepped out.

Josue bolted out, screaming. Upon seeing her, he darted behind her for cover. âEileen, your crazy husband is trying to kill me!â he exclaimed.
Bryan followed closely, his handsome face showing intense anger as he glared at Josue with his fiery eyes. It was clear that Josue had committed a serious offense.
Eileen realized that she couldnât protect Josue, and he quickly ran out of the yard. However, Bryan didnât pursue him. Instead, he turned back. Eileen watched as Bryan gently and carefully wiped Gabrielaâs chubby face with a baby wipe.
Gabrielaâs soft, pale skin reddened slightly after being wiped, but she seemed unaffected.
âJosue probably realized that Bryan already knew Gabriela is his daughter,â Eileen said quietly. âHe barged in, trying to take Gabriela away, but I stopped him.â
Despite this, Milford was unable to get Josue to leave, so he stayed to watch over Gabriela.
