Chapter 364:
âI know you didnât mean any harm,â Eileen said, noticing Milfordâs anxious expression. She smiled reassuringly. âIâm heading to the office now. You can stay home and look after Gabriela with Bryan. Just give me a call if anything comes up.â
Relieved by her calm demeanor, Milford nodded gratefully. âDonât worry, Iâll take good care of Gabriela.â
Eileen changed her shoes at the entryway and glanced up the staircase, but she didnât see anything. She vividly recalled how Bryan would often insist on seeing her off whenever she left for work. He would hug her tightly or sometimes even drive her to her destination, always finding ways to be with her. Even if Gabriela prevented him from accompanying her, he would at least see her off at the door.
With a sigh, Eileen pursed her lips, turned on her heel, and left.
Meanwhile, the Freguson Group continued its steady acquisition of the Warren Group, while efforts to stabilize the Warren Group progressed smoothly. Eileen had a business lunch to attend at noon, but before heading out, she decided to video chat with Bryan. As they spoke, Bryan reclined comfortably with Gabriela sprawled on his chest, basking in the warm sunlight streaming through the window.
âLook at this,â Bryan said, pointing at the video on his phone and gently rubbing Gabrielaâs chubby cheeks. The babyâs mouth formed a perfect âOâ with saliva dribbling down.
Gabriela blinked her bright eyes and turned her gaze elsewhere.
Their video call lasted about five minutes. For the first three and a half minutes, Bryan enthusiastically talked about Gabriela. Eileen managed to get in a few responses during the remaining half-minute.
After they wrapped up the video call, Eileen put away her phone, left the office, and called Dalores. Benjamin would be joining them at the restaurant later. However, he had some errands to run first and would head straight to the restaurant to meet them.

Breaking the silence, Eileen said softly, âYou know, your job isnât easy. The high salary you earn is due to the dangers and the need for secrecy.â
âI understand, but I need to keep track of your daily agenda and provide timely reminders,â Dalores said, glancing up from the schedule, her lips curling into a small smile.
Eileen paused for a moment before asking, âThe last time you mentioned you couldnât leave because you were short on money, what happened? Is there anyone else depending on you?â
Dalores shook her head, her voice tinged with sadness.
