Chapter 50 Shopping
TL: Kyous
The entrance Odin knew should be one of the many entrances. He scanned the huge black market and couldnât make out where the other entrances were located.
Regardless, at a glance, there was indeed a lot of stuff, and certainly, it was a great place. He decided he needed to thank Adrian properly for recommending this place to him later on if he could meet Adrain again. He let out a deep sigh.
Casually, he approached a stall and looked at the goods displayed. There werenât too many items being displayed. He randomly picked up an item and had a look, it seemed to be a stall selling utensils. All of the items were silver cups, silver cutlery, etc.
Although these items were useless to him, the cup in his hand was rather nice-looking. The patterns on it could be seen to be the highest quality, but its authenticity was debatable.
âBrother, you have great eyes. The cup in your hand was left behind by a royal family from the last century. Itâs very precious, not to mention its craftsmanship and material. Buying one for yourself as a gift is a good idea.â The vendor saw someone stopping by his stall and hurried with a smile to promote his goods.
âHow much is this?â Odin placed the item back onto the stall. He had no intention of buying it and he also couldnât compensate for it if he broke it. So, placing it back was a better choice.
â40 silver coins. Itâs cheap, right? The price in my stall is absolutely fair!â The vendor was still smiling at Odin and believed Odin was inquiring about the price with the intention of buying.
However, Odin only just wanted to have a clear grasp of the black marketâs pricing. He wanted to ask a couple more stalls. Hearing the price, he shook his head and left the stall. He did have 40 silver coins, but this silver cup was useless to him and it also wasnât something he wanted to purchase.
âTch, so itâs a poor bum. Donât block my business, get lost.â The vendor twitched his mouth and immediately headed toward the next customer with a fawning smile.
Odin thought it was quite interesting. The entire black market had a very marketplace atmosphere. Compared to the time he was fighting and killing, the words just now sounded rather friendly.
He circled the marketâs outer area first and realized all of the stalls were either selling utensils or foods. The food also came from all around the world, he even never heard of some of them. However, there werenât any extraordinary-related items he needed.
Instead, when he passed by a stall selling scallion pancakes, the smell came from it was fragrant. Spending a copper coin, he bought a scallion pancake for his dinner. While munching at the pancake, he walked around for a bit. There werenât any stalls that were selling extraordinary-related items. It looked like these items could only be found in the depth of the black market.
Among the items, some of them probably were forbidden items as well. Using the unimportant stall on the front as a cover, even if the existence of this black market was unearthed, there would be a sufficient amount of time for those in the back to evacuate.
Odin slowly headed into the depth of the black market. On his way, he encountered dozens of vendors promoting their goods to him.
âBrother, look at this Strength Pill! I guarantee after using it, your strength will be powerful!â A vendor with a box of dark green pills was circling Odin.
As Odin glanced at the pills, they were pockmarked and the corner of his mouth twitched. If one were to eat this, it was questionable whether it was guaranteed strength or guaranteed death.
Ignoring the vendor, Odin continued straight while the vendor continued promoting his goods with effort, âBrother, just have a look! Itâs a loss if you donât buy it! Hey! Donât goâ¦â
Until Odinâs figure could not be seen, the vendor finally stopped shouting.
As Odin passed by in front of a stall, he suddenly halted his footsteps. He began carefully examining the goods on the stall. The stallâs vendor was busy promoting his goods to other customers, but evidently, he wasnât as friendly as other vendors were. However, the real reason Odin stopped by this vendor was a delicate vial with ink-green liquid placed on the stall.
This bottle Odin had seen before. During the conflict with the trio of siblings at the club, Cardory drank this potion. At that time, her strength and speed had reached an unfathomable level that normally couldnât be reached.
If it wasnât for Cardory not aiming at Odinâs life, he might have died under Cardoryâs moves. Since then, that potion had left a deep impression on Odinâs mind. Nonetheless, according to Cardory, this potion had a violent setback and might cause one to be bedridden after the fight. Odin felt the setback was too costly and momentarily wavered.
But, he did indeed want a strengthening potion. He wanted something that could enhance the combat prowess while not bringing too many side effects.
âOwner.â For the first time, Odin took the initiative to talk with a vendor.
âWhat?â The vendor was still introducing his goods to other customers when he raised his head and looked at Odin.
Odin picked up the delicate vial with ink-green liquid and shook it at the vendor, âThis potion, is there any with weaker side effects?â He thought for a bit before feeling being direct was better.
The vendor squirted his eyes and carefully scanned Odin. He probably didnât expect someone to ask this kind of question.
âThere is. Let me finish dealing with this customer, then Iâll tell you in detail.â The vendor entered a small room behind his stall and took a wooden box out before handing it to the customer before him.
That customer flipped the box and opened it before sniffing at it. Then, he nodded as if satisfied with it. He took out 30 silver coins from his pocket and handed them to the vendor. The vendor pulled out the drawer beneath the display table and put the coins in it.
âThe potion youâre talking about is available, but few people who buy from me asked about side effects. Looks like youâre quite knowledgeable about this potion.â The vendor was rather amazed as his gaze on Odin became friendlier a bit.
âYeah, Iâve seen it before.â Odin honestly answered. There isnât a need to overthink when conversing with a stranger.
âThe one youâre holding just now is the one with the best enhancing effect, but the side effects are definitely huge. I have other kinds of potion as well, follow me to the room at the back.â The vendor spoke before entering the room behind him.
Odin followed the vendor and entered. The moment the beaded curtain was lifted, he was slightly stunned.
Inside the room, there were all kinds of potions. Four walls of the room were wooden shelves and each shelf had five to six layers. Every layer had a dozen potions placed on it and each of the potions was different in color. The only common point was their vials were delicate.
