Chapter 37 Clearing Black Death Societyâs HQ
Since Odin had just learned the ice skill and hadnât had any time to practice with the fourth and fifth skills, it would consume more spirit energy to use a stronger skill. And this is bad for Odinâs physical body. So, he intended just to use the first three skills to kill all of them.
However, unbeknownst to him, there was a cumbersome Plague Corpse. Judging from Adolfâs proficiency in using his skills, it was visible he wasnât an ordinary Plague Corpse. It was certain that Adolfâs prowess was great and if Odin didnât use his full strength, things might go awry.
According to the description of the Level 4 skill, Arrival of Winter, provided by the system, it seemed to be a crowd control skill that could restrict the physical bodyâs movement.
Predicting Adolfâs dashing trajectory, Odin unleashed Arrival of Winter on Adolfâs endpoint. When Adolf reached the skillâs area, it activated, freezing the entirety of Adolf.
In this way, Adolf temporarily lost his mobility.
This crowd control skill was strong but it had a strict requirement from the caster. Due to the skillâs delay and distance range, one must predict the enemyâs next location to make sure they would enter oneâs attack range.
If mispredicted, it wouldnât freeze the enemy. And due to the skillâs cooldown, by the time the next usage arrived, one might be beaten to death by the enemy.
However, this skill would only last for three seconds. If Odin wanted to kill Adolf, he must do it within these three seconds.
The icicles were too slow and werenât enough to finish Adolf.
So, before the fourth skill was activated, Odin had used the fifth skill and an Ice Arrow materialized on his palm. The instant Adolf was frozen, Odin, akin to an arrow, rushed at Adolf and beelined the sharp arrow in his hand on Adolfâs neck, leaving a line of blue glow behind.
Odin stopped in front of Eddy in his rushing pose, half-kneeling on the ground but no traces of blood could be observed on the Ice Arrow.
Coincidentally, three seconds passed. Adolf was released from his frozen state. He sized up his entire body and found no wounds before releasing a wild laugh. âHahahahaha! Is that all? Thereâs no⦠Ahhhh! Pfft! Impossible! Impâ¦â Before Adolf could finish, a thud sound echoed.
âHeh, you think youâre fine?â Odin headed towards Adolf.
A three centimeters gap could be observed on the side of Adolfâs neck, right at the artery. When Odin beelined over, the Ice Arrow had a low temperature. So, Adolf didnât sense any pain when the Ice Arrow slashed his artery and no blood stuck on it as well.
But, under the gradual increase of the temperature, the wound abruptly ruptured as a large amount of blood gushed out from Adolfâs neck. The blood painted the walls of the hallway.
Dark-colored blood was dripping from the wall. Due to the viscosity of the blood, it moved slightly before halting. Patches of dark blood stains formed, making the sight gruesome.
While on Adolfâs body, the black mist was constantly spilling out as its color gradually paled, almost dissipating.
âThis⦠Cough! Cough! How is this possible?!â A final breath still remained within Adolf. His bloodshot eyes widened and filled with hatred, unable to believe the sight before him.
âHeh.â Odin trudged over and kicked Adolfâs leg while sneering wordlessly. He squatted down, watching Adolfâs last breath escaping before eventually stopping breathing. Adolf, in the end, died with his eyes and mouth widened in the hallway.
âYou! What are you?!â Eddy, who was still laying by the staircase, slowly crawled back while fearingly staring at Odin.
Unbeknownst to him, Odin was capable of killing Adolf. He believed Adolf was their final line of defense but he didnât anticipate Odinâs strength had reached this stage.
There were around four people in the HQ. If Adolf failed to kill him, then everyone in the HQ was powerless against Odin.
âIâm the Odin you guys wanted to kill, what else can I be?â Odin mocked while slowly moving towards Eddy.
âWhy? Why arenât you killing me? Wasnât killing me an easy feat? Donât you want to kill me and present me to your higher-ups for the reward? Iâm standing in front of you right now, why donât you get up and kill me?!â Odinâs voice was increasingly getting louder as his expression turned even more vicious as if venting the stress he had accumulated during the period of being hunted by the Black Death Society.
This bunch of people took the liberty of using othersâ lives as vessels. Robbing othersâ lives without permission. With what right?! Odin glared at Eddy with his reddened eyes.
The expression on Odinâs face caused fear within Eddy. As Odin trudged over, Eddy kept backing up. Fear on Eddyâs face intensified as though the person before him was a Shura.
If it wasnât for the heavy injuries from the previous fight which caused Eddy unable to stand up, he would immediately flee with his tail tucked between his legs, unwilling to spend even a single second with Odin.
Materializing dozens of icicles midair, Odin picked one of the icicles with the best-looking shape. He grabbed that icicle while the others slowly vanished.
Slowly, he walked in front of Eddy, stomping on one of Eddyâs legs to stop Eddy from retreating. With the icicle in his hand, he slashed it down heartlessly before Eddy stopped breathing.
Eddy died with his eyes wide open. Unlike Adolfâs reluctance, fears filled Eddyâs eyes as his pupils shrank.
Kicking Eddy away, Odin knew there was someone else who remained in the HQ, probably a Spirit Warlock too. During the fight with Adolf just now, he perceived an abnormal fluctuation of spirit energy but it concealed its presence instantly.
Perhaps, the owner saw Odinâs fight with Adolf and felt fear, not daring to appear. So, he chose to hide instead.
Since that person wasnât coming out, Odin would search for him. Today, he would clear out the whole HQ, telling the Black Death Society that he wasnât to be messed with!
All of a sudden, a âClackâ echoed from a room at the end of the hallway, attracting Odinâs attention.
