Chapter 60

The Lawson family estate was bustling, everyone gathered to celebrate Vincent's father's birthday. Mina, as the soon-to-be daughter-in-law, joined them for the occasion.

"Mina, how are the wedding plans coming along with Vin? Have you two set a date yet?" Vincent's mother beamed at Mina, her affection unmistakable.

Mina blushed, not wanting to drag things out any longer. "I'm fine with whatever Vin wants."

Vincent's mother laughed. "Well, what's there to wait for? Pick a good date and let's get you two engaged first," she nudged her husband.

Vincent's hand froze halfway to his mouth, fork in midair. His mind was elsewhere—he kept thinking about Alicia.

He'd hit Alicia that day...

"Vin?" His mother called his name, noticing his distraction.

He snapped back to reality. "Yeah... I'll let you know when we've picked a date."

Mina's expression darkened, her grip on her fork tightening. She could feel the threat looming over her—the wedding couldn't be delayed any longer.

"Oh, I almost forgot to mention. Jade and I ran into Tyrone and his assistant at the mall today."

Vincent abruptly set his fork down. "Alicia was with Tyrone?"

He couldn't hide his irritation. Was Alicia still getting tangled up with Tyrone? He hadn't even broken up with her yet, and now...

"Yeah, who knows what Tyrone's thinking. He's from such an old-money Harboridge family—could have anyone he wants, yet he wants to marry Alicia, an orphan?" Mina said it offhandedly, but her words were barbed. "We were busy trying to set Alicia up with someone, but turns out she's got her own ambitions."

Vincent's face grew stormy. He shot to his feet. "Tyrone wants to marry Alicia? That's impossible!"

Mina dug her nails into her palm, fighting to keep her composure. "He took her shopping for luxury goods today."

Vincent's mother sniffed in disapproval. "Some women only care about money and handbags—so shallow."

But Vincent barely heard her, panic rising in his chest. Tyrone—of all people—marrying Alicia? Their backgrounds were worlds apart...

Alicia's out at the campus food court with some guy. Who is this?"

Vincent's expression turned thunderous. He snatched the phone and stared at the photo: Alicia and Tyrone, sharing burgers and laughing together.

"Who took this? When was it? Where?" Vincent's voice was sharp, his agitation obvious, not caring that Mina was right there.

Mira shrank back, startled by his reaction. "It's at Seaview University's food court... Cecilia just sent it to me."

Before she finished speaking, Vincent was already out the door.

"Hey! Where are you going? The meal's not over!" His mother and father exchanged baffled glances, confused by Vincent's sudden exit.

Mina's hands were trembling now, her instincts screaming at her—Vincent's feelings for Alicia ran far deeper than he'd ever admit.

Alicia glared at Lily, watching the small crowd of onlookers.

"Hey, handsome, you look way out of her league. What do you see in her?" Lily teased Tyrone, tongue firmly in cheek—after all, Tyrone really was impossibly good-looking.

"Add me on Instagram, will you? My dad's an executive at Oceancrest Holdings," Lily said with smug pride, convinced her family status put her above Alicia.

Tyrone gave Lily a cool glance, pulling out his phone to scan her code. "Send me those videos."

Lily's eyes lit up, mistaking his interest for something more. "I've got plenty of videos of her, no problem."

Lily, not the brightest, eagerly sent him everything he asked for.
