Chapter 377

Yvonne had never mentioned this to Sean Quinn-not because she was worried

someone might steal him away, but because, frankly, men were never at the center of her universe. Besides, she trusted Sean.

"I'll find someone else, then," Sean offered, not wanting Yvonne to be troubled.

"That's not necessary. You're the one in charge of risk assessment. If you think she's reliable, then go ahead and use her," Yvonne replied, meeting his eyes.

"Yvonne, do you know what's most infuriating about you?" Sean's voice held a trace of exasperation.

She rolled her eyes. There was a streak of rebellion in every bone of her body-she could be aggravating in a hundred ways, and she had no idea which one he meant.

"You never get jealous for my sake. If you've known all along that she was interested in me, why are you only bringing it up now?" Sean wasn't hiding his irritation.

"It's her right to have a crush on you. Whether you respond, whether you get swept away that's on you. If you're so easily led astray, why would I want you? I don't need a guy with the backbone of wilted lettuce." Yvonne grabbed his tie, tugged him close, and slid into his lap. "Sweetheart, there are three and a half billion men on this planet. I can move on any time I want."

Sean's gaze grew darker, and in the next second, he pulled her even closer, pressing a possessive kiss to her lips. "Try finding someone else, and see what happens..."

White Manor.

Reginald had barely been home a few days before falling ill. This time, it was serious. The White family and White Corporation had gone into full crisis mode. He understood his own condition all too well. That's why, out of nowhere, he'd announced that Nicole was an impostor and rushed to reinforce his will. He was desperate to lay the groundwork for his granddaughter, terrified that he might die before everything was settled.

"Reginald, you're awake." Alicia had been keeping watch by his bedside.

She didn't know why Tyrone Lynch wanted her there, but if Tyrone asked, she obeyed.

It was Clayton Holloway who pleaded with Tyrone to bring Alicia over. The risk was real, but Reginald's condition was even more precarious.

Downstairs, Tyrone and Clayton were huddled in the living room, strategizing. When Alicia saw Reginald stir, she started to call for them.

"Alicia..." he stopped her gently. "No need to call them. I'm all right."

He looked at her, eyes weary. "Alicia, my son and daughter-in-law were taken from me-murdered, ruthlessly. The killer was caught, but declared criminally insane and ever truly punished. But that's not the worst of it-the real villain was never the one holding the knife lt's someone else, someone in the shadows, pulling all the strings..."

Reginald's eyes glistened with unshed tears.

He hated himself for his own helplessness-for not protecting his son, for failing his daughter-in-law, for never finding out who had

orchestrated the fall of the White

family. Content belongs to

The mastermind had disappeared without a trace, buried so deep that even after all

these years, Reginald had found nothing.

"I was weak... I couldn't keep my

family safe. And because of me, my granddaughter was taken away we were never reunited..." Reginald longed to tell Alicia the truth, but he couldn't.

He couldn't trust anyone around him, nor could he be sure that the cluster of medical devices humming softly in the room weren't hiding surveillance.

Alicia didn't know why, but watching him struggle to speak made her chest ache. "Grandpa, you'll find your real granddaughter. I know you will."

He nodded slowly. "I already have... I found her. But right now, I can't let her meet any of you. When the time is right... I promise you'll get to know her."

Amid the tangle of wires from the life-support machines, a tiny black bug blinked faintly a hidden listening device, almost impossible to spot.

Someone was eavesdropping.

But Reginald, for all his age and frailty, was no fool. He would never risk exposing Alicia's true identity so easily.
