Chapter 257

"So this is what passes for your manners-using your status to bully your own granddaughter-in-law? Alicia is my wife, recognized by law. Whether or not she can keep the baby, she's still my wife. If you can't show her respect, there's no reason for us to come back to this house again." Tyrone squeezed Alicia's hand and turned to leave.

After all, the only reason he ever came back was because of the old man.

"If you walk out that door today, don't ever come back to the Lynch family!" the old man roared, his fury echoing through the room.

"I have no problem with that. It's not like you're short on sons-didn't you just get your golden boy and the prodigal Marcus back?" Tyrone shot Marcus a cold glance. "But let me remind you: your health isn't what it used to be. Every month, your bills from the private clinic, the hospital stays, the medication, the family doctor, medical equipment, physical therapy-those alone run over a hundred grand. Add in your living expenses, the staff for the estate, the groundskeepers, the butlers, the housekeepers-altogether, you're burning through two hundred thousand a month. I hope your favorite son is ready to foot that bill."

The old man's face darkened. "Tyrone, I still call the shots in this family! The Lynch Corporation shares are all in your name you really think you can cut me off just like that?"

"Don't forget, the agreement you signed made it clear-the shares only become mine if I produce an heir, or if I marry Nicole from the White family. I have neither a child, nor did I marry Nicole, so you think you can threaten me?" The old man slammed his fist on the table, his glare icy.

Valery's sharp eyes darted to Marcus.

Nicole...

So she was the linchpin in all of this.

Whoever married Nicole would get the Lynch Corporation shares. Did that mean her own son stood a chance?

Marcus looked grim, clearly all too aware who Nicole White was.

Nicole's mother had been his ex-wife's closest friend-Tyrone's mother, and one of the people Marcus had always despised most. But the past was the past; if marrying Nicole would maximize Easton's interests, then so be it.

"I used to think only emperors in old stories betrayed their most loyal subjects once they'd outlived their usefulness. Who knew you'd do the same to your own grandson? When the Lynch family was at its lowest, it was Tyrone who held everything together. Now that the corporation is stable, you're all so eager to throw him out?" Alicia's voice trembled with anger, her eyes rimmed red as she stepped in front of Tyrone protectively.

"No one asked for your opinion!" the old man snapped, jabbing a finger at Alicia.

"Grandpa, why are you getting so worked up?" Nicole strolled in with Clayton at her side.

Nicole, ever the performer, ran over and clung to the old man's arm, her tone sweet and deliberately provocative. "Grandpa, are you upset because Tyrone won't marry me? Don't worry! I heard... you have another grandson, don't you?"

She glanced pointedly at Valery and Marcus. "That Easton kid-he seems great. We're almost the same age and he just turned nineteen. Next year he'll be old enough to marry. If I marry him, does that mean the Lynch family shares go to Easton?"

Nicole's voice rose theatrically, making sure Tyrone heard every word.

She wanted to make him regret his choices.

Clayton watched Nicole as if she'd lost her mind. For a fraud, she sure was

determined to dig her own grave.

Everyone in this room underestimated Tyrone. Easton could never be a real threat

to him.
