Tyrone's House
At Alicia's insistence, Tyrone finally dropped the charges.
Word was, Melanie still refused to leave the police station-even after the officers told her she could go, she just sat there.
In the end, Chester had to drive her home.
But Tyrone wouldn't let her inside. Melanie crouched just outside the gate of the villa, unmoving, her back pressed against the stone pillar.
She'd been there for hours and hadn't budged an inch.
Alicia didn't go out to see her either. Truth be told, she wasn't ready to face Melanie yet.
Dropping the case was already the biggest concession she could make.
Still, Melanie wouldn't leave. She didn't eat, didn't speak-just waited out there, as if determined to see Alicia and Tyrone come out.
"What are you looking at?" Tyrone emerged from his study after a conference call and found Alicia standing at the second-floor window, staring outside with a worried look.
"It's Melanie... She's been out there for ages. She probably hasn't eaten anything since last night. Shouldn't you... maybe go talk to her?" Alicia asked quietly.
"Leave her be." Tyrone frowned, walking over to check the bruises on Alicia's arm. "Does it still hurt?"
Alicia shook her head. "It healed ages ago. Just a scratch."
"What about your stomach?" Tyrone gently pulled her into his arms, his voice full of guilt.
These past days, he'd been blaming himself for not protecting her better.
"It doesn't hurt anymore," Alicia said, shaking her head again.
Tyrone rested his forehead on her shoulder. "I should've kept you safe."
Alicia quickly shook her head. "It's not your fault."
She paused, then added, "I was just careless. Honestly, when Melanie showed up, I should've known something was off."
Tyrone was about to comfort her when the doorbell rang.
A sleek Rolls-Royce pulled up outside the gate. Vincent's assistant stepped out first, opening the door with a deferential bow as a family of three climbed out.
Marcus gazed up at the villa, his expression unreadable. In his mind, everything Tyrone owned should rightfully belong to him-his father.
Beside him, his wife Valery's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Honey, is this really our new home?"
Marcus snorted. "This is just one of the houses in Seaview City. It belongs to my son from my first marriage."
Valery's face was full of envy. "Such
a beautiful house... If only Easton could have this life, instead of
spending all these years living rough while your other son enjoyed luxury with the Lynch family."
As she spoke, she even sniffled a little.
Easton shot her a look. "Mom, what are you saying? From what Dad explained yesterday, he was the one who left the Lynch family. You only met him after he left. If he hadn't left, you two would never have met. So how is any of this my brother's fault?" Content belongs to
Truthfully, Easton was struggling to accept the fact that he'd suddenly become the son of a wealthy family-or that he suddenly had an older brother.
He wasn't sure if his brother would accept him, either.
Honestly, he didn't want to just take his father's word for what happened back then. There had to be more to the story of why his dad left the Lynch family.
After all, a man as lazy and work-shy as his father-who always dragged Easton along to help with odd jobs-wouldn't have given up a life of comfort without a good
reason.
Valery shot Easton a glare, signaling him to keep quiet.
In the corner by the gate, Melanie-who'd been crouching so
long her legs had gone
numb-watched the family with net
dazed expression. She steadied
herself against the wall and stood up slowly. "Who are you looking for?"
Valery and Marcus both jumped, startled-they hadn't noticed anyone hiding in the
shadows.
Marcus scrutinized Melanie. "I'm here to see Tyrone. Are you... the housekeeper?"
Melanie glanced back at the villa, where Tyrone and Alicia were just stepping outside. "Uncle, they're here to see you."
