Chapter 232

Harboridge City.

As soon as Tyrone stepped through the door, his grandfather summoned him to the study, his expression grave.

"Your father-" the old man began, but Tyrone just turned on his heel and headed for the door.

His grandfather was caught off guard. "Stop right there."

Tyrone's face was unreadable, his tone cool and detached. "I'm supposed to be on

my honeymoon with your granddaughter-in-law. You really called me back for something this trivial?"

He slouched into a chair, picking up the solid gold horse figurine on the desk, spinning it idly between his fingers.

Grandfather snatched it back, half-afraid Tyrone would lose his temper and smash it if he got irritated.

"Your father called me yesterday," he tried again.

Tyrone didn't respond.

"He might be in trouble... After all these years, he's still your father," the old man said, emotion creeping into his voice.

Age softens the hardest hearts. The years had changed him-he wasn't as rigid as he used to be. And Marcus, after all this time away, had finally reached out. The old anger had faded.

"I get it. You're worried about your son," Tyrone replied, not blaming his grandfather. He drummed his fingers slowly on the armrest. "But everything the Lynch family has now, I earned it. If you're thinking of using my money to help him—it's not happening."

His grandfather frowned. "That sounds awfully cold."

He had more than enough of his own savings to support Marcus anyway.

"When he drove that woman mad and abandoned everything-made a big show of leaving with nothing, refusing even a penny of the family fortune did he ever think this day would come?" Tyrone let out a cold laugh. He had nothing but contempt for Marcus.

After a moment's silence, Tyrone stood up. "Grandpa, I'm more successful than he ever was. If I decide to leave the Lynch family, you can be sure I'll never come crawling back, begging for scraps."

His grandfather was taken aback. He knew Tyrone wasn't joking.

He knew his grandson's

anyone he'd raised him, after all. If Marcus came back, there would be no place for Tyrone under this roof.

Tyrone had matured over the years; if Marcus hadn't run away back then, Tyrone might have destroyed him, too.

"I'm not saying! want him to come back," his grandfather said, his tone softer now. "He called-said he's in a bind. He's started a new family in Seaview City. Has a son... Youre half-brother is already nineteen. The boy's innocent in all this."

The old man's judgment was clouded, but he was right about one thing-that was still his grandson.

Tyrone felt suffocated. That sharp, unspoken pain in his chest-no one else could possibly understand.

"Do whatever you want, Grandpa. As long as you're happy." His fingers were starting to go numb. He felt drained.

Honestly, he wished his grandfather would keep these things to himself.

"Tyrone... All these years, and you still can't forgive him?" his grandfather ventured cautiously.

Tyrone didn't answer. He almost laughed.

Forgive? What had Marcus ever done to deserve forgiveness?

"Grandpa, there's no need to talk about this anymore. If there's nothing else, I'll be going." He got up, ready to leave.

His grandfather hesitated, watching Tyrone reach the door. "At least go check on him. Give him some money if you must just to get it over with."

Tyrone gave a bitter laugh.

He knew Marcus too well. If Marcus was calling his father, he wasn't after a token handout he wanted something much bigger.

This was a man who, when he left the Lynch family, left the company teetering on the brink of bankruptcy. Forget the family fortune-they were hundreds of millions in debt. He ran away with nothing, just to escape the fallout. A man with no sense of responsibility, no real talent, always blaming the world for his

Tyrone's breath came a little heavier, anger simmering just beneath the surface.
