Chapter 225

Alicia flashed Tyrone a grateful smile as she tucked the blanket around him.

Once the plane leveled off, the flight attendants began serving the meal, handing out drinks and fruit to the other passengers. Winnie, thoughtful as always, made sure no one disturbed Tyrone and brought Alicia a fruit plate just for her.

Alicia nibbled on a few pieces, then handed the plate back to Winnie. Soon after, she leaned in against Tyrone’s shoulder and drifted off to sleep.

She never dared hope Tyrone would fall in love with her. Alicia understood all too well: theirs was a marriage of convenience, a contract, nothing more. She was there to shield Tyrone from his arranged engagement to the White family, and in return, he paved the way for her, helping her go further in life.

She always knew that sooner or later, their marriage would end.

But she wished that day wouldn’t come too soon.

...

When they arrived at the hotel, Alicia was practically buzzing with excitement.

She’d never left her home country before, had hardly traveled anywhere, and now, for the first time, she was swept away by the breathtaking beauty of the Maldives.

She felt a little like Alice stepping into Wonderland for the first time—overwhelmed, maybe a bit naïve, but thrilled all the same.

Their room was perched right over the water; open the door, and the endless blue sea was right there at her feet. It all felt surreal.

“Tyrone, can I post some photos on social media?” Alicia asked, unable to hide her excitement.

“You don’t need my permission. Do whatever makes you happy,” Tyrone replied, sitting beside her and gazing out at the ocean.

“Tyrone...” Alicia leaned against his shoulder, her legs dangling over the edge of the bed. “Let’s take a picture together.”

She wanted to capture as many memories with Tyrone as she could.

That way, when they eventually parted ways, there’d still be something left to look back on.

No regrets.

“Alright.”

Tyrone had always indulged her requests.

He was so good to her... Alicia couldn’t bear the thought of him ever being wronged.

Just like that time before they left Seaview City, when Nicole’s harsh words had left Tyrone upset and angry—Alicia had been so furious, she’d nearly lost control and wanted to slap Nicole just to shut her up.

But the truth was, she hardly knew Tyrone. Not really.

He’d never told her why he couldn’t break off the engagement with the White family—why he’d rather marry her, a virtual stranger, than just end it outright.

Alicia wanted to ask, but didn’t dare. It felt like a line she couldn’t cross with him.

Alicia and Tyrone’s Maldives photos found their way onto her social feed.

She didn’t have many friends—she’d blocked all her old college classmates—but she made a point of not blocking Vincent.

She couldn’t help it; part of her wanted to show off.

Vincent liked her post. Alicia had no idea what he was feeling—and she realized, she didn’t want to know anymore.

...

What Alicia didn’t know was that, on the same day she arrived in the Maldives with Tyrone, Vincent was getting drunk at a bar, surrounded by friends.

In front of everyone, he blurted out that he wasn’t getting married anymore—that he was calling off the engagement with Mina.

Franklin thought Vincent had lost his mind.

Maybe he really had.

“Vincent, what the hell are you talking about?” Mina burst into the private room, her eyes blazing.

Vincent, thoroughly drunk, stood up and looked straight at her. “I said it’s over. The engagement’s off. We’re not getting married.”

Mina’s hands clenched into fists. She strode over, grabbed a glass of whiskey, and tossed it in Vincent’s face. “You’ll regret this.”

Alicia had posted those photos on purpose. “She’s punishing me. She still cares... She still loves me.”

Vincent buried his face in his hands, frustration spilling out. “Franklin, help me... Help me win her back...”

Franklin just stared at him, stunned. He and Vincent had grown up together—sure, he’d always gotten along with Tyrone too, but with Tyrone there was a certain wariness. With Vincent, though, it was real brotherhood.

He never imagined Vincent would go this far—all for a woman.
