Chapter 194

Serena sat stiffly on the edge of the hospital bed, her hands clenched in the blankets. She’d tried everything she could think of to make Tyrone stay, but nothing had worked.

Her glare shot straight to Alicia, convinced this was all Alicia’s way of showing her who was in charge.

She’d known Tyrone for years—there was no way Alicia could steal him away in just a few days.

Silent and seething, Serena gripped the covers even tighter.

A nurse came in to change her bandages and give her another injection. Melanie sat quietly nearby, watching over her.

“For now, all the tests look normal,” the doctor explained to Tyrone. “As for why she coughed up blood... we’re not entirely sure yet.”

“Alright. If anything changes, let me know right away.” Tyrone nodded, then turned to Serena. “Since the doctor says there’s nothing seriously wrong, just focus on resting. You’ll be discharged tomorrow—Felix will take you home. Take care of yourself for the next few weeks.”

His meaning was clear: Felix would be responsible for her safety and care from now on.

Tyrone had a wife now. His time and attention belonged to her.

Serena stared at Tyrone, unwilling to let him go. She opened her mouth to protest, but Melanie gently stopped her.

As soon as Tyrone and Alicia left, Serena rounded on Melanie, fury in her eyes. “Why did you stop me?”

“Mom...” Melanie’s eyes were red with tears. “Uncle Tyrone... he likes Alicia.”

Even Melanie could see it. How could Serena not? The truth was, Serena refused to accept it—she couldn’t stand the thought.

“Nonsense! Do you know who your uncle is? He’s the CEO of Lynch Corporation, the heir to the Lynch family. There’s no way he’d fall for an orphan!

He’s just using her to get out of that engagement with the White family. He told me himself—he just wanted to break free of that chain. You don’t understand him. No one does. I’m the only person in this world who truly understands his pain!”

Serena’s pride ran deep. She was convinced she was the only one who could heal Tyrone’s wounded soul.

“I’m the only one who’s right for him,” she whispered, almost to herself.

“Mom...” Melanie choked out, tears streaming down her face. “Alicia is a good person. She’s special. Uncle Tyrone is going to fall in love with her.”

She’d never allow Alicia to have Tyrone’s child...

If the Lynch family needed an heir, she could give Tyrone a child, even if it meant IVF, even if it was dangerous.

Why did it have to be someone else? Hadn’t Tyrone always hated women, never letting any get close to him? She stared at Melanie, voice trembling, “Tell me the truth... is Alicia’s baby really from IVF?”

A sudden chill crept into her heart. Was Tyrone and Alicia’s child really conceived that way?

“I don’t know, Mom,” Melanie sobbed, shaking her head.

“It has to be IVF. It must be,” Serena muttered, desperate to convince herself. “Your uncle can’t stand women—he’s always been like that. He’d never let a woman get close to him, let alone... No, there’s no way he and Alicia had a child the normal way. Absolutely not.”

Melanie hunched in her chair, tears falling. She honestly didn’t know how Alicia’s baby had come to be. But deep down, she suspected her uncle’s aversion to women didn’t seem to apply to Alicia...

Back at home, Alicia felt content for the first time in ages. She’d eaten well, had a warm drink, and Tyrone was there with her. Life suddenly seemed almost peaceful.

She had no idea how long this happiness would last.

“Tyrone, I don’t really feel anything... Do you think the baby’s still alright?” Anxiety crept into Alicia’s voice. Every morning, she’d take another pregnancy test, holding her breath until she saw those two deep red lines.

“A healthy embryo doesn’t just disappear like that,” Tyrone reassured her, wrapping his arms around her and quoting from one of the many books he’d read.

“Only the strong deserve to be my child,” Alicia said with a weak laugh, recalling something she’d once read online.
