Chapter 132

"It's all right. Our marriage probably won't last very long anyway," Alicia joked, a playful glimmer in her eye.

Winnie grinned. "Well, when you two get divorced, I'll finally make a move on Mr. Lynch."

Winnie had never bothered to hide her ambition. Her interest in Tyrone was always plain as day. With his power and influence, there were few women who could claim not to be attracted to him.

Alicia smiled and nodded. She genuinely liked Winnie's straightforwardness—if she wanted something, she admitted it. She faced her desires head-

on, never playing games behind anyone's back.

Besides, Alicia had never thought of Tyrone as truly hers. Sooner or later, they'd go their separate ways. And after the divorce, whoever had the guts and charm to win Tyrone over—well, more power to her.

Not that the competition was scarce. Women who wanted to steal Tyrone's heart were countless.

Alicia couldn't help feeling a little helpless about it all. Jade and Serena were already enough to deal with, and now Nicole lived in the house too—

having even taken over her master bedroom.

"Alicia, can we be friends?" Winnie beamed at her, her smile open and bright.

"Sure..." Alicia hesitated, then said quietly, "I haven't had many friends growing up. I'm not really sure how to... you know, be a friend. If I do anything that bothers you, just tell me, okay?"

Winnie looked surprised, but nodded with another warm smile. "Then I'll just have to make myself your best friend, won't I? Maybe I'll even manage to steal you away for myself."

Alicia couldn't help but laugh. Winnie really was so sunny and confident.

She wondered what it must be like to have a family as happy as Winnie's—a supportive home, parents who encouraged her, and a confidence that shone through everything she did. Alicia envied Winnie, but she knew she'd never be that kind of girl.

Growing up, her own insecurities ran deep, forcing her to bury her desires where no one could see them. Even if she wanted something, she never dared speak up.

She'd been with Vincent for four years. The only time she'd worked up the courage to ask for something, it was just a timid question: "Are we really dating?"

Vincent had said yes.

Just that one simple answer had satisfied her for four years.

And yet, because she never asked for anything, Vincent never truly valued her.

"I've got three days left on my vacation here in Seaview," Winnie said, pulling out her phone to show Alicia a list of local attractions. "How about we hit the beach tomorrow?"

Alicia nodded. "Sounds good. I'll have the driver take us."

Winnie grinned. "Thanks for arranging everything."

That night, around nine, Winnie took Alicia out for a late bite, and Felix arrived to pick Alicia up.

"Mr. Lynch called you," Felix said quietly. "You didn't answer, and he was worried."

Alicia paused, realizing she'd missed his call while they were eating—there was no signal in the little restaurant. "I'll call him back right away."

After dropping Winnie off at her hotel, Alicia immediately dialed Tyrone.

"So, what did you get up to today?" Tyrone's tone was low, but he didn't snap at her. His voice was deep, edged with a gentleness she rarely heard.

"I met a flight attendant on the plane, her name's Winnie. We're friends now," Alicia replied softly. "We're planning to go to the beach together tomorrow."

There was a long silence on the other end, as if Tyrone was at a loss for words.

Finally, he let out a wry laugh. "Alicia, would you help someone count the cash after they sold you off? You can't seriously not realize why Winnie's cozying up to you, right?"

Alicia hesitated, then answered quietly, "I know. I'm not that naive. I know she's after you. But... she's actually a really nice person. What if you end up liking her, too?"

This time, Tyrone's anger was unmistakable.

"Alicia," he said through clenched teeth, "it's not that you'd help someone count the cash if they sold you out. It's that you'd help them count the cash if they sold me."
