Chapter 128

The blood on Alicia's forehead had almost dried by now, but she was positively buzzing with excitement as she and Melanie browsed through the mountain of luxury gifts Jade had just paid for.

"This one—this one is crazy expensive. Everyone in my class wants it. That awful girl who tried to steal my boyfriend has one, too. She wears it every day like she owns the place."

Alicia glanced at Melanie, then pressed the bracelet into her hand. "Here, this one's yours."

The two of them were dividing up the loot like mischievous partners in crime.

Melanie wrinkled her nose and shook her head. "If that witch has it, I don't want to be caught wearing the same thing as her."

"Okay, then this—this one's even pricier." Alicia handed over a bracelet that sparkled even more.

Melanie's eyes lit up, and the way she looked at Alicia shifted from initial skepticism to genuine admiration.

"You're honestly amazing," Melanie breathed. "If I were half as brave as you... Hey, doesn't your head hurt? Are you sure you don't need a doctor?"

She sounded genuinely worried now.

By the time Tyrone arrived, rushing in with a storm of anxiety, Jade had already disappeared with Nicole.

"Alicia!" Tyrone grabbed her shoulders, eyes fixed on her injury. "What happened? We need to get you checked out."

Alicia beamed at him. "I'm fine, really. Look at all this—it's all ours! Jade paid for everything. Six million dollars' worth."

Tyrone's expression darkened. "Jade caused you trouble again?"

Alicia hesitated, unsure if she should tell him. After all, this involved his grandfather.

"Jade... called me and told me to invite Alicia out shopping," Melanie piped up quickly when she realized Alicia was holding back. "I'm sorry, Uncle Tyrone. I didn't know she'd show up with a whole group, or that she'd try to drag Alicia off to the hospital for some pregnancy test. She said Maddox told her to do it."

Tyrone's frown deepened as he looked at Melanie. "We'll talk about your part in this later."

He scooped Alicia up, ready to carry her straight to the hospital. After a few steps, he turned back and shot Melanie a warning. "Call me Uncle Tyrone."

Melanie's shoulders slumped and she mumbled, "Okay..."

Alicia hesitated, then whispered, "Tyrone, I think your grandfather might have figured out I'm not actually pregnant."

Tyrone gave her a reassuring look. "Let me handle it."

Alicia nodded, feeling a strange sense of peace. Whenever Tyrone was around, she felt grounded—as if, when he said he'd take care of something, he really would.

At the hospital, her wound turned out to be minor; a bit of cleaning and a bandage did the trick. Tyrone stood by in stern silence the entire time, his face thunderous. Anyone who knew him could tell just how angry he was.

Alicia trailed quietly behind him, not daring to say much.

That night, Melanie didn't dare stay over. She picked out a few favorite things from the pile of gifts and then slipped away, tail between her legs.

Tyrone was on the phone for hours. Alicia, not wanting to disturb him, took a shower and then began photographing the luxury goods Jade had paid for, listing them on a secondhand app—brand new, ten percent off. By the end of the night, half had sold.

She had over a hundred thousand dollars in her account.

Alicia bounced on her bed, thrilled, just as Tyrone walked in.

Seeing her in high spirits, his own tension started to fade. He managed a smile. "What's got you so happy?"

Alicia quickly tried to smother her grin. "I sold a bunch of the designer stuff Jade paid for on an app. Made over a hundred grand."

Tyrone shook his head in disbelief. There was no denying it—Alicia was a little money fiend.

"Oh, I almost forgot," he said calmly. "I had Felix invest your thirty million. Starting next month, you'll get the dividends at the beginning of every month, and at the end of the year, the principal will be deposited into your account."

Alicia stared at him, stunned, her mind spinning. Was she actually rich now?

Even if Tyrone divorced her, thirty million would be more than enough to finish school and live comfortably for years.
