Chapter 127

Alicia glared at the bodyguards. "Are you all statues? Grab her!"

Raising the heavy crystal paperweight in her hand, Alicia pointed straight at the luxury display case. "Touch me, and I'll smash it. Every last piece in there, and you'll be paying for it right alongside me."

The bodyguards hesitated. Inside that glass case, any random purse could buy you a small apartment, not to mention the diamond-studded, limited-

edition jewelry.

A furious sales associate pointed at Alicia. "Ma'am, we've already called the police. You're going to have to pay for the damages."

Relief washed over Alicia. Good. If the cops came, Tyrone would find out for sure.

"You all heard her just now—she said she'd pay full price. She told me to go ahead and smash it. So send her the bill." Alicia turned and fixed her gaze on Jade.

Jade's eyes blazed with fury as she stared back at Alicia. She clenched her jaw, shocked that someone she'd always thought naive and harmless could pull a stunt like this.

Now that Alicia had gotten the police involved, Jade couldn't just drag her away. Tyrone was bound to get wind of it. She'd blown her chance, and finding another opportunity wouldn't be easy.

"Fine. Very clever," Jade spat, fists clenched, motioning for her entourage to leave.

"Ma'am, you can't go anywhere," the store manager said, blocking Jade's path. "Whatever dispute you two have, you still need to pay for the damages here."

Alicia seized the moment and borrowed a phone from one of the clerks, quickly dialing Tyrone's number.

The first time, Tyrone let the unknown number ring out. The second time, he picked up. "Hello?"

"Honey..." Alicia deliberately used the term of endearment, loud enough for the staff to hear. "I'm at The Atrium Royale. Something happened—I accidentally broke some things in the store. Could you come over?"

She was careful not to mention Jade trying to force her into the hospital. After all, the one pulling the strings was Maddox, and she wasn't sure where Tyrone stood on that. A good contract wife always had to protect her husband's interests.

"Wait for me," Tyrone replied, his voice low and rough, before hanging up.

Chapter 126 The manager kept Jade and her people from leaving. Jade's frustration was palpable. "Fine! How much do you want? I'll pay it!"

She was getting nervous now that Alicia had called Tyrone. She needed this to go away—and fast. If Tyrone showed up, there'd be no easy escape for her or Nicole.

"That lady over there broke our door. The glass alone costs forty thousand. The display case you smashed is another thirty, and the luxury items inside have all been scratched to some degree. Calculating everything with your membership discount, the total comes to $683,900," the manager rattled off after tallying everything up on a calculator.

Alicia suppressed a sigh. Clearly, her taste needed work—she'd only smashed the cheaper items. If she'd known, she would have gone straight for the limited-edition cabinet.

Jade's breathing quickened with anger. You could see in her eyes she was on the verge of refusing.

"If Tyrone gets here and finds out you brought bodyguards to rough me up..." Alicia murmured, feigning innocence.

Jaw tight, Jade yanked out her credit card. "It's just six hundred grand," she snapped.

The clerk ran her card and then said politely, "In that case, we'll withdraw the police report."

Jade snorted and stormed out with Nicole in tow.

Alicia wiggled her fingers in farewell. "Take care now!"

Pain throbbed at her temple, but her eyes sparkled as she turned to the manager. "Since Miss White has so generously paid for everything, could you please have all those purses and pieces wrapped up for us?"

The manager blinked in surprise, then quickly nodded. "Of course, ma'am."

Off to the side, Melanie stared at Alicia in awe, giving her a big thumbs up.

Who knew a shopping trip could end with someone else footing the bill?
