Chapter 119 of 391

Chapter 119

The driver wouldn't even let them on the bus anymore.

He looked helpless, caught in the middle of something he couldn't control.

"This Alicia is just vicious, treating my little sister like this." Jade's voice was tight with anger, as if she was standing up for Nicole. "Maddox, Nicole's the one who's engaged to Tyrone, not Alicia. When are you finally going to make him divorce her? She's not even pregnant!"

Maddox hesitated, looking uncertain. "That can't be. Tyrone said she was pregnant..."

Jade jumped in quickly. "Grandpa, Tyrone only said that to get out of the engagement and to make you angry. He's with Alicia just to spite you.

Vincent told me himself—there's no way Alicia's pregnant. And even if she was, the timing doesn't add up. The child wouldn't be Tyrone's—it would be Vincent's."

Maddox's face darkened. "That bastard. He lied to me again."

He glanced over at Reginald. "Tomorrow I'll have someone take Alicia to the hospital for a checkup. If she's not pregnant, she'll divorce Tyrone, and Nicole will marry into the family instead."

Nicole beamed, her smile bright and sincere. "Thank you, Grandpa."

Reginald, meanwhile, seemed distracted—lost in thought as he sat quietly off to one side.

Maddox waved a hand in front of him. "What's on your mind?"

Reginald shook his head. "It's nothing..."

Every time he saw Alicia, memories of his wife came rushing back. In her youth, Margaret White had looked so much like Alicia. How could two people be so alike in this world?

He'd already arranged a secret DNA test for Nicole. If she wasn't really his granddaughter, then... could Alicia be?

"Grandpa, if you're not feeling well, maybe you should go home and rest?" Jade hurried over to steady Reginald as he stood.

He nodded. "Take your sister to the hospital for a scan. I'll head back first."

Jade nodded as well, worry flickering in her eyes.

The old man wasn't so easy to fool...

On the way to the hospital, Nicole whispered, "Sis, do you think Grandpa will find out who I really am?"

She wasn't actually the White family's true heiress. She and Brandon had planned it that way.

"He's suspicious," Jade replied coolly. "He's already asked the butler to run a few more DNA tests. But he doesn't know the butler's been ours for years." She let out a cold laugh. "Relax. The real Nicole is never coming back. She died a long time ago."

Nicole finally breathed easier. "Sis, you're sure Alicia isn't pregnant?"

Jade's confidence was unshakable. "Trust me. She's not."

At the hotel.

Tyrone had barely stepped into his room before he called his assistant. "Felix, change our flight. We're heading back to Seaview City tonight."

Felix sounded stunned. "Mr. Lynch, you're not going to spend a few more days in Harboridge?"

"What's there to do here?" Tyrone snapped.

"Understood, I'll make the arrangements right away."

Alicia looked equally surprised. "We're leaving tonight? Shouldn't we at least say goodbye to Grandpa?"

"Say goodbye? What, so he can try to sell you off again?" Tyrone ruffled her hair. "Pack your things. We're leaving."

Alicia smoothed her hair, exasperated. Why did he always have to mess up her hair?

Back in Grandcrest City, there'd been another boy who liked to ruffle her hair too. He used to joke that it was a habit he picked up from petting dogs.

Maybe Tyrone had the same habit.

Early the next morning, Maddox arrived at the hotel in person, intent on dragging Alicia to the hospital for a checkup.

The front desk told him Tyrone had checked out last night—he'd already left with his people.

Back to Seaview City.

If she's not pregnant, you two are getting divorced!"

He turned his glare on Jade and Nicole, who had followed him there. "Jade, when you get back, take Alicia to the hospital yourself for the exam."

Jade gave him a little smirk. "Of course, Grandpa. I'll get it done."
