Present 2017,
Alisha parked her car and got down, she hurried to help her grandmother- Amreen, climb down. She helped Amreen sit on the wheel-chair. She then wheeled her.
'Wait! Get only one.' Amreen said to Alisha. Alisha nodded and got one single red rose.
'You haven't till date confessed to Dadu you love him?' Alisha asked wide eyed.
'I am still shy.' Amreen blushed, 'But your Dadu knows.' She added winking at Alisha, she then looked at the red rose and smiled knowing very well that Faizaan knew what the gesture meant. Perhaps, he is smiling in there too.
'Dadu loves you so much, you are so lucky. Dadi.' Alisha watched with moist eyes as she helped her Dadi place a red rose on top of a grave, the tombstone read
FAIZAAN MALIK
BORN: 1ST FEB 1929
DEATH: 19TH JAN 2016
'Hey! I love him too.' Amreen faked anger. Alisha nodded smiling. Amreen then looked at her husband's grave and her eyes filled with tears, beside his grave is a small grave, the tombstone read
AFRAH FAIZAAN MALIK
BORN: 20th October 1950
DEATH: 22nd November 1950
Amreen sighed, 'Look Alisha, the father-daughter are sleeping so peacefully.' Tears fell from her eyes. Alisha nodded quickly wiping her tears too.
She then left Amreen alone for a while.
Early last year, Amreen had lost her soul mate, her love, her husband- Faizaan.
Due to old age, Faizaan had become weak. Even though Amreen had done everything she could to take care for him, but the doctors had given their answers.
'Promise me, you won't cry...promise me you will always be happy.' Faizaan had said, and with his trembling hands he had held hers and made her promise as he lay in his death bed.
'I promise...I promise...but please don't leave me.' Amreen had sobbed.
But there is no human control on life and death, and next day Faizaan passed away. Amreen was shattered, for her a major part of her was lost. Faizaan wasn't just her husband, he was part of her soul, she felt incomplete. She felt lost. But she didn't cry, she had promised Faizaan. Since, their marriage Faizaan had always wanted to see her happy, and has done everything for her happiness, to see her smiling. Even his last wish was to see Amreen happy, respecting his last wish Amreen didn't cry. But she was numb, her three kids and their family stood by her and Amreen realized how blessed she is, Faizaan has left but he has left behind symbols of his love, their love, their kids. Even though he isn't with her to care for her, their kids are.
'I miss you.' Amreen whispered looking at the grave lovingly, buried underneath is her Faizaan, her husband, her love, her everything.
Alisha took out her cellphone and called her mother, 'Ma, I am ready for marriage. We will start looking for alliance soon.' she smiled through her tears. She could hear her mother's happily sigh.
Alisha cut the call and turned around, she looked at her grandmother sitting on the wheel chair and staring at the grave of her husband.
Alisha got to know about two marriages, one of Amreen and one of Farheen. One marriage helped Amreen achieve her dreams and completed her on the other hand, Farheen's marriage was a harsh trail and it only troubled her. Marriage like everything is uncertain, and it is worth taking the risk. As Alisha decided to take the leap, she hopes like Amreen, she too finds her Faizaan.......
