Chapter 34: Chapter 34 Danielâs Phone Call Chapter 34: Chapter 34 Danielâs Phone Call When William Griffith woke up in the morning, he felt sore all over. He opened his eyes to see a familiar figure lying on his bed, sleeping peacefully.
There was a second when William dared not even breathe. He was afraid that all of this was just a wonderful dream, and that once he woke up, everything would disappear.
He had been longing for such a moment for five years, but now, he couldnât quite bring himself to believe it.
Like that night five years ago, she was irresistible.
William tried to move, but as soon as he did, the wound on his abdomen got pulled and he groaned lightly. His sound woke Cherish up.
Before she could even open her eyes, Cherish saw a pair of open eyes just staring at her.
As their gazes met, Cherish vaguely noticed the fluctuation in his eyes. She couldnât understand it, and before she could get the sense of it, his gaze became clear again.
He stretched out his hand and stroked the corner of Cherishâs mouth with his thumb. âYouâre quite grown up but you still drool in your sleep,â he murmured.
Cherish was shocked and quickly wiped her mouth, finding nothing, âYou tricked me!â
âHeheâ¦â William couldnât help but laugh. He hadnât laughed so happily in a long time, yet laughing made his wound hurt worse.
Hissing.
Cherish warned him, âStop moving around. Youâve got a perforated stomach and the severity varies. Youâre badly behaved. You know youâre allergic to spicy food, yet you stubbornly eat spicy hotpot with me. Iâve never seen a boss like you!â
While she was pulling up the blanket for him thoughtfully, afraid heâd feel cold, she comes to realize that she began to show him tender care involuntarily.
âUh⦠You just lie down. Iâll fetch a towel to wipe your face.â Saying so, Cherish went to the bathroom to prepare his washing.
William watched Cherish bustling about, feeling warm inside.
Lewis was sleeping soundly. He glanced at his son at the foot of the bed and thought that soon, he would have all of them back together.
At that moment, Cherishâs phone on the bedside table rang.
He glanced at the bathroom; she was still busy inside. He reached out to pick her phone up, intending just to answer it for her. But when he saw the name displayed on the screen, he paused.
The name was, Daniel.
Williamâs eyes tightened as he noticed Cherish had come out of the bathroom. He turned his face away, âYour phone is ringing.â
Cherish put down the washbasin and handed William a dry hot towel. Seeing the call was from Daniel, her little tired face instantly brightened up!
âItâs a call from Daniel!â she said and then hurried over to the window to pick up the call.
William just watched her bright smiling face, feeling a sourness in his heart.
Lewis broke wind in his sleep and then woke up. He smacked his lips a couple of times and then climbed from the foot of the bed to Williamâs side and comfortably snuggled into his arms. But Lewis was considerate, he made sure he did not touch Williamâs surgical wound.
Lewis looked at William and then at Auntie not too far away. Suddenly, he remembered something very important!
âDad, Auntie yesterday asked for our home telephone number. She might ask you for the telephone number of grandma and grandpa later. She doesnât want to stay here and continues to take care of you.â The little guy said flatteringly.
Edit. It figures, chatting so happily with Daniel, how would she care about him?
