Chapter 19: Chapter 19 Slow Down, No One is Competing with You for Food Chapter 19: Chapter 19 Slow Down, No One is Competing with You for Food Cherish Turner sat down, holding her chopsticks and staring at the delicious food in front of her, unsure of where to start.
William Griffithâs tall figure leaned towards her, resting his chin on his hands as he sat down next to her. The laziness and charm on his face were both intimidating and captivating to Cherish.
âUh, Iâll try this rib firstâ¦â Cherish dared not look at him, she picked up a piece with her chopsticks and placed it in her mouth.
It was incredibly delicious! Even better than what her mother used to make!
So she decided to just eat, avoiding looking at the big bossâs face, to avoid indigestion.
She ate one piece after another. Cherishâs mouth was smeared with sauce from the ribs, a drop hung on her lip, making it especially tempting.
William watched with a heated gaze, his eyes seemed to deepen.
But he managed to conceal his emotions, replacing them with innocent stares.
His long fingers brushed off the drop of sauce, and naturally sucked it into his mouth, his charming eyes, his brows and eyes smiling, âEat slowly, no one is rushing you.â
âCough cough⦠cough coughâ¦â Cherish, frightened by his suggestive gesture, dropped her chopsticks, overwhelmed and unsure of how to react!
âHmm?â William glanced at her, Cherish felt she needed to look away.
But her heart was pounding wildly, as if it would leap out of her throat!
Cherish Turner, what the hell are you doing? Why are you so sensitive to this man in front of you?
She blinked her wide eyes vigorously in an attempt to extract herself from this hurried and intense palpitation!
âBlub blubâ¦â At this moment, the soup in the pot started boiling, breaking the silence and the awkward atmosphere. Only then did William retract his gaze from Cherish and went to the kitchen to get the hot soup.
It seemed that this man frequently cooked, his skills were proficient.
A man who can cook, is irresistibly charming in every way.
Cherish, afraid she would choke if she let her thoughts wander, bent over and focused on eating her ribs.
Just then, a cry came from Lewisâs room. It was heart-wrenching. William was still wearing his apron and couldnât spare his hands:
âCan you check on the baby for me? Thereâs a pacifier on his dresser, just put it in his mouth.â The calm voice betrayed a hint of worry, upon hearing this, Cherish immediately put down her chopsticks, said okay, and hustled to Lewisâs room!
âMommy, I want mommyâ¦wahhhâ¦â
The little fellow was crying hard with his eyes closed. Cherish, having no experience with this, didnât know what to do at first. Following Williamâs instructions, she found the sterilized pacifier, warmed in the cabinet, and gently fed it into the childâs mouth.
The nip-nap provided little comfort to the youngster who ideally reached out to be held.
Cherish had no choice but to open her arms and cradle the child, holding him close to her chest.
The warm embrace gradually calmed the little one down, his tiny hands clutching Cherishâs chest, making her mumble to herself, âNaughty little one, youâre too young to know whatâs goodâ¦â
âHeâs not being lecherous, heâs just lacking maternal care.â
William appeared at the door at some point, watching Cherish holding the child, his gaze was deep.
âUmâ¦I mustâve misunderstood, thinking too indecently, hehe.â
âLewis seems to like you a lot,â he said.
âReally? Maybe because this sister of his is gentle and cute I guess!â After hearing what William had to say, Cherishâs gaze at Lewis softened unintentionally, just like a mother looking at her baby.
âCherish Turner.â
âHuh?â Suddenly being called by her name, Cherish looked up; her eyes met with Williamâs intensely passionate gazeâ¦
