Chapter 3287 It Has To Be Me

The bad blood between Jonas and Mr. Whittemore started after he helped her at one of the

drinking sessions. Ever since he met Megan, Jonas’ luck seemed to have been heading downhill.

She felt as if she was a curse to him.

Holding that thought, Megan endeavored to help Jonas no matter what. Or else, she wouldn't be

able to live with herself.

Patting him on the shoulders, she reassured, “Don’t worry. Since the rumors are of you being gay, all

you need to do is find a girlfriend. It's not that complicated, so don't overthink it.”

Nevertheless, both of them were cognizant of how serious the repercussions of the scandal were.

Megan's words were no more than just a consolation. Clenching his fists, Jonas desperately racked

his brains for a solution.

"It's not complicated but neither is it a walk in the park. Even if I announced I have a girlfriend now,

everyone would assume it's just a cover-up.”

Megan nodded in agreement as Jonas did have a point. Leaning back into her chair deep in

thought, Megan suddenly thought of someone.

“Hey! I know who the best person is to be your girlfriend!”

With her eyes sparkling, Megan jumped right in front of Jonas, catching him off guard. As he

couldn't help but raise his eyebrows in surprise, he stared at her glowing face.

“Who do you have in mind?”

In spite of his doubtful tone, Megan smiled confidently and pointed proudly to herself. She

declared, "Of course it's me!”

The moment he heard her suggestion, Jonas fell into a long and deep silence. As his gaze darkened,

he stared intently at Megan, not knowing if she was joking or was actually serious.

“Is that really your plan?”

Jake was visibly skeptical. Not just because of her relationship with Jake, but also for his own selfish

reasons.

If Megan really agreed to it, he might not be able to himself from turning the act into reality.

No matter how hard he tried, Jonas felt that it was too hard to pretend not to care for Megan. If that

was the case, he wondered if Megan would find him annoying.

As the questions and concerns within him grew, Jonas didn’t dare delve too much into it. However,

the resolve in Megan's eyes seemed to pressure the truth out of him. His initial desire to reject her

turned into a skeptical question instead.

"Of course!” Megan replied without any hesitation as she had not noticed the conflicting emotions

within Jonas’ eyes. Standing up, she explained eagerly, “Since there have always been rumors about

us, it would be more a confirmation than a cover-up if we make it public now.”

That was indeed the best plan they had. But, it would be the equivalent of linking Megan up with

Jonas in the public eye. Under such circumstances, Jake would be put in an awkward situation.

Megan had taken all these factors into consideration but chose to ignore them instead.

Furthermore, she was prepared to suffer the wrath of Jake's rage when he found out.

At the same time, she knew she had to inform Jake of her plan in advance. Or else, the

consequences would be even more serious.

“It does make sense, but...” Jonas furrowed his eyebrows as he felt conflicted. On one hand, he

hoped that Megan would agree. On the other hand, he was worried that Jake would make things

difficult for her.

After struggling with himself, Jonas closed his eyes and let out a long sigh.

No matter what, he couldn't bring himself to let Megan suffer for his sake.

When he opened his eyes, his gaze was calm. He proceeded to explain the possible consequences.

“I'm sure you have thought of Jake. If you do this, he isn't going to let you off easily.”

Megan's eyebrows twitched in response.

She obviously knew what would happen. But, she was already mentally prepared and didn’t want to

think about it.

Hence, she smiled with a nonchalant expression. “It's alright. Don't worry about that. What we

should do next is to wear some couple accessories when we are out. We don't have to overdo it as

long as we allow them to take pictures.”
