Never Late, Never Away Chapter 2298
"What else could I be thinking about? I'm naturally missing Joan,â Larry answered mildly.
At this time, he was no longer concealing his longing toward Joan in front of Jessica. Jessica, on the
other hand, was an understanding person. She could comprehend his feelings for Joan, so it was
natural that she would think of ways for him to fix his relationship with Joan.
âCall her if you miss her. How would she know if you don't say anything?â she drawled.
"Hah! Please don't mention that. It was all because of your lousy suggestion that I've phoned her
multiple times, but she never once picked up. On top of that, she didn't even return my calls,â Larry
retorted with a sigh, his eyes brimming with mild chagrin.
Huh? That's weird. After a couple has fought, the woman will usually compromise as long as the
man takes the initiative to patch things up. What's more, Joan has always loved Larry. Could it be
that someone around her sabotaged things?
Jessica's brows creased deeply as she plunged into contemplation.
âAh, forget it. Don't give me any more crappy ideas. Let's just wait until Joan comes back,â Larry
muttered.
Damn it, what did he just say? How was my idea crappy? That's something every woman yearns for,
okay? Argh! Never mind. He'll never understand. He's a man, after all! Turning her face away from
him, Jessica ignored him and plopped down onto the sofa. She then picked up a magazine and
started reading it solemnly.
"Oh, yes, how are things between you and Caspian?â Larry suddenly inquired as he whirled around.
âHey, don't run your mouth, Larry! There's nothing between the two of us. He's merely my assistant,
so don't get the wrong idea,â Jessica responded loudly.
Larry was amused. Oh, really? While she can fool Caspian, she can't do the same to me! From the
look in her eyes when she gazes at him, it's glaringly obvious that she has feelings for him.
"Oh, I see. In that case, all right, then. I'll just agree to the request,â Larry declared on purpose.
Hmm? What request? What did he mean by that? In a flash, Jessica straightened and stared
seriously at the man a stone's throw away, waiting for his clarification. Unexpectedly, Larry started
tapping on his keyboard in the next moment.
âWell? Finish whatever you were saying earlier!â Jessica screeched as her temper flared.
"Someone wants to introduce a girlfriend to Caspian. As you know, heâs been single for some time,
so he should have a family of his own...â
âNo way!" Jessica abruptly bellowed as though she had lost her mind.
Startled, Larry's head instantly snapped up. He stared at her.
"Why are you so worked up? It's not like someone is introducing to you a potential boyfriend. If
you're jealous, I don't mind finding you one...â He offered with slight hesitance.
"Who's worked up? I'm just thinking that Caspian is very busy, so he has no time to date,â Jessica
countered as she turned around and went back to the sofa.
She must be jealous. Larry smirked. Well, she should just admit it! It's obvious that she likes Caspian,
yet sheâs always indifferent to him! What on earth is she thinking?
He shook his head in exasperation.
Although Larry didn't say anything further, Jessica was exceedingly flustered and panicked at that
moment. It felt as though her heart was lodged in her throat.
What should I do? What if Caspian truly goes on the blind date? Who's going to keep me company
and have fun with me in the future? Who's going to protect and take care of me? No, I can't let him
go on that blind date!
âIf I remember correctly, they're meeting tonight,â Larry blurted out of the blue.
Despite that, the woman on the sofa continued flipping through the magazine nonchalantly.
Finally, she snapped.
âI'm leaving. I'm hungry, so I'm going to grab some food.â As she said that, she snagged her
handbag and left the office.
As Larry gazed at her retreating back, the corners of his mouth turned up in amusement.
She's really naive sometimes to believe everything I say. Of course, he only made up such a lie so
that Jessica would realize her feelings for Caspian.
