Never Late, Never Away Chapter 1930
"What are you talking about, Lars? How could I make a move on Joan when I haven't even seen her
recently?â
It irked Gabriella that Larry had rebuffed her numerous attempts to go on a date.
Damn you, Joan Watts! This is all your fault!
Gabriellaâs demeanor turned bitingly cold.
"How's it going?â Larry asked impassively.
"Hmm. This oneâs a complete goner, Larry,â Caspian said with finality.
Larry's face was filled with disappointment as he looked at the damaged USB drive. He didnât know
that it contained nothing more than the daily mundanes of Lonnie, Hubert and the rest of their
gang
"Forget it.â He took it back.
âI found many electronics and some maintenance tools in his room. He might be trying to fix this
thing too.â
Larry's eye lit up suddenly, and he rushed down to the village's clinic with the drive in hand.
Thump! Thump! Thump! One could hear the urgency from the continuous knocking.
âWho is it?â the doctor asked aloud.
âLarry.â
âMr. Norton's cool. Let him in,â Lonnie said with a smile.
As soon as he saw Larry, he asked, âDo you have it?" The latter checked the surrounding, shut the
door quickly, and pulled Lonnie into the house.
âIs this it? Can you fix a damaged USB drive?â Larry handed him the item.
"You took the wrong one.â Lonnieâs dismay was instantaneous. âI kept it in the corner, sandwiched
between the pages of a book. How could you miss it? Hold up. Has anyone else been to my place?â
he asked cautiously.
Larry nodded.
"Damn, these f*ckers are fast!â Lonnie cussed as he clenched his fists.
"What's important now is for you to stay here and keep yourself safe. They must be looking all over
for you on Gabriellaâs orders. I know she'll want to see your body even if you're dead.â Larry patted
his shoulders.
"What about my boss, Mr. Norton?â Lonnie looked worried.
âI'll go and check on him at the hospital later.â
All of Hubert's earlier medical expenses were covered by Larry, who was tied up recently to make
regular visits.
That was his promise to Lonnie, whose loyalty was what drew Larry to him in the first place.
After a brief exchange, Larry left the clinic and drove to the hospital.
âMr. Norton,â greeted the doctor deferentially.
"How is he?â
âPhysically, he's fine, but...â the man appeared hesitant.
âBut what?" Larry regarded the man before him inquisitively.
âMentally, he's not all there. According to his boys, Lonnieâs attempt to usurp his position shocked
him,â the doctor replied calmly.
What a load of bullsh*t!
Larry thought as he glared at the men standing guard at the door.
Hubert was looking at Lonnieâs photo and weeping when I last visited. What could have made him
lose his mind?
Larry secretly sensed that something was amiss.
âMs. Ward!"
Gabriella unexpectedly appeared in front of him.
"Ah, what are you doing here, Larry?â she asked as she primped her hair.
"Got some stuff to sort out. You...â Larry's gaze shifted between Gabriella and Hubert, who was
laying in the ward.
"Oh, I'm here to visit a friend.â Gabriella then gestured toward Hubert.
Larry smirked. She thinks I'm a fool!
The men standing guard clearly addressed her as Ms. Ward. It would seem that she already had
them wrapped around her finger.
Gabriella, Gabriella. Aren't you something? Pulling this off so smoothly!
