Zak

“Zak stay here,” Ace says as he walks into the door. It is a two-way mirror. They are trying to investigate Dia’s biological father. Turns out the rumors where wrong, Mr. Scoleman had not killed him yet.

“Okay,” I say as Ace closes the door and walks towards him. Ace had talked his father into letting me help. Noah is standing next to me looking over at Ace. He has a stressed expression.

Noah’s phone rings, I look over to see him pulling out a different phone from his pocket- a phone I haven’t seen him use before.

It is a disposable small phone which is R100. Could he be hiding something?

“Where are you,” a very loud voice says, Noah moves his hand to lower the volume on the call.

“I am investigating Mr. Naidu,” he answers as he looks to me. I swiftly turn to make it seem like I am looking at Ace while he interrogates Mr. Naidu.

A muffled responds from his side, I look at him through the two-way mirror, more like his figure which is reflecting on the mirror.

“No, I am with Zak,” he says in a suspicious way. He emphasized my name almost trying to tell the person on the other side to watch what they say. I try to keep my facial expression neutral as I carry on eaves dropping.

What is Noah hiding. Could he be a bad bad guy?

“What? Who is the trader?” he says loudly, I turn to look over at his direction, he makes eye contact with me. Maybe it is someone trying to see who the trader is for kidnapping Dia. I feel like Dia, and I haven’t had time to talk about our relationship and where we stand.

“Okay, I will let the boss know,” he says before hanging up on the call.

“Will you excuse me, I need the bathroom,” he says before walking away.

“No, go ahead,” I say before pulling my phone out to see a text message from my father.

Father: I do not like Dia, but I will support the relationship if she makes you happy.

Me: Thank you father.

Father: Just be careful she won’t break your heart

Me: I will and thank you for looking out for me and being alright with the relationship

I hear some footsteps coming, I stay looking down at my phone as my father responds to me.

“No, sir…. I am with him right now. They do not seem to have a clue where you are,” the person says behind me. Something in my stomach turns, like a gut feeling I should pretend to carry on typing.  My father responds to me:

Father: I will always support you as long as you are happy, then I am happy.

Me: Thank you father.

Father: Take care and make sure you take good care of yourself as well as look after yourself. You have no idea who will be using you to get revenge or close to Dia.

You will become her weakness.

Me: Will do so but I think Dia might be very protective of me and make sure I am not in harms way.

The person walks up to me, I can feel their presence next to me.

“Who you chatting to?” they question.

I fight the urge to look up, “my father.”

“Ooh okay. What you guys talking about?” they question getting closer to me. Too close for my liking.

“He was just checking,” I start saying but I am interrupted when I feel an object starting to pierce into my lower rib cage.

“I suggest you be quiet, wouldn’t want to trouble anyone,” they whisper into my ear.

I slowly nod my head as the door to the investigation room opens.

“Zak, can you please come with me,” Ace says as he dials a number.

“Sure,” I say.

They whisper in my ear, “Wrong move, try again,” they whisper in my ear.

“Zak,” Ace says looking at me.

“Yeah,” I respond, he looks at me suspiciously before going on the call.

“You have five seconds to say you need the bathroom before I kill both of you and just know…” they whisper more aggressively, “It will be two lives lo-”

Bang!

A gun goes off and the wringing is left. I do not feel any pain, looking up to see Ace with a gun pointing to Noah.

“When did you know?” I question, Ace gives me a look.

In my office when he starts taking papers from the folder which had evidence to help us find Dia,” he says, cutting the call before putting his phone back into his suit pocket, “he played the roll very well, I will give him that.”

He moves to look at his father as he walks out the room, “Get Zak and gear up before we go and get Dia back.”

Mr. Scoleman walks out the room and towards the exit of the basement.

“When he went to the bathroom the same time she was kidnapped, it proved to me, he was disloyal and not trying to help us,” Ace carries on as we go down a flight of stairs to the basements, basement?

I would have never guessed the basement has a basement, but I guess they would have it in case they need to hide or hide items-slash-objects.

“When I saw how close he was to I knew he was about to use you to get to Dia or worse, kill you but I do not know why he is working against Dia.” Ace says as we walk into a room with guns and bulletproof vests.

“I just needed a reason,” Ace says Ashe gives me a bullet proof vest to put on, “to kill him.” He helps me adjust the vest before going to get his, “he basically dug his own grave.”

Ace puts his vest on and then his suit’s blazer, “Let’s go to the car. Some henchmen will be waiting for me to drive the first car.”

“Okay,” I say, as we make our way upstairs.
