Y/n tapped her foot anxiously as she stared at the clock. She heard the teachers murmurs in the back of her mind, but she didn't pay attention to her. She couldn't pay attention to her.

She had 5 minutes until the end of second period, and the start of third period. This was her favorite part of the school day. This was the only time to see her boyfriend— well, they weren't totally together, but they liked each other, and they both knew it.

As the bell rang through the classroom, y/n's feet were already darting for the door, a huge smile on her face. She had something important to tell Tyler— well, not really telling him, more like hinting. Homecoming was in 2 weeks, and they still haven't discussed it whatsoever. She was set on going with him, and wanted to maybe let him know gradually.

Once she entered the room, she was one of the first to arrive. She set her bag in the chair beside her to save the seat.

Before she knew it the smiley boy tapped her shoulder, making her twist around.

"I see you saved me a seat?" Tyler asked, as he set his bag down beside the chair.

Y/n nodded, "so, did you hear about homecoming?" She asked, and Tyler shrugged, digging into his bag.

"Yeah, but I don't know if I'm going." He shrugged it off, as he placed his books on his desk.

Y/n was about to say something else, but the teacher interrupted with her loud voice. She looked down at her wooden desk, her mind blocking out the teachers voice.

Has he really not thought about asking me? She wondered.

"Joseph, what the hell are you doing? Pay attention!" The couch shouted, and y/n lifted her eyes from her chrome book to be met with Tyler's. Tyler quickly turned his head to face the coach.

"Sorry, coach. I got distracted," Tyler said with stars in his eyes. Y/n rolled her eyes, but smiled nonetheless. The coach just continued his lecture.

"What was that, Joseph, you gotta keep your head in the game!" Y/n teased as she slapped his shoulder. A small blush appeared on his cheeks, and it only egged y/n on. She began to laugh harder, and Tyler looked down trying to hide his blush.

"Shut your mouth." He mumbled, elbowing her side. He pulled his keys out of his pocket, earning a jingle from them.

Soon enough they were pulling out of the school parking lot and on their way home.

Tyler was y/n's neighbor, so he was always her ride home. She had to stay late to watch Tyler practice, but she never complained.

"Is there any particular reason you're not going to homecoming?" Y/n asked, pursuing her plan she started before.

Tyler shrugged, the same plain, blank, facial expression he had when they were talking about it earlier. "What do you mean?" He asked shortly.

"What do you mean 'what do you mean'? You told me earlier that you weren't going to go!"

"I never said I wasn't going I just probably won't." He shrugged.

"Okay, well, why not?" She persisted, now getting quite frustrated with his vagueness.

Tyler suddenly whipped his head around, looking back behind them. "Oh, y/n/n, we just passed a Taco Bell, we have to go back and eat."

Y/n furrowed her eyebrows, surprised that he changed the subject. She rolled her eyes, and sighed, excepting her defeat. "I'd love to get some Taco Bell."

Y/n didn't know what was wrong with Tyler, but something seemed off. Every time she brought up homecoming he would shoot her down, and give her short answers as if he just didn't care at all. Y/n was hurt by it. She thought he wanted to go to homecoming with her, but now she was thinking otherwise.

Y/n sighed, setting her pencil down. She had tons of homework to do and she couldn't think about any of it. Homecoming was only a week away, and Tyler still didn't show any signs of asking her.

After about 2 hours of doing homework, but actually just staring at a wall, her mother came up, knocking on her door lightly. "Yes?" Y/n called.

"Tyler's here to pick you up, sweetie." She called, and y/n nodded even though her mother couldn't see her.

Y/n got up from her place in her chair and skipped over to her shoes. She slipped them on sloppily, and makes her way downstairs.

As she got in the car, Tyler took a deep breath, his hands fiddling with his car keys to put in the ignition.

"You alright, Ty?" Y/n asked, to which her turned his head to look at her. He gave her a small smile.

"Yeah, just nervous for the game is all." He replied, finally starting the car and beginning to drive out of the driveway.

Y/n nodded, looking out of the window.

Y/n's cheers were louder than all of the others as Tyler scored another touch down. She threw her arms up, waving them around and screaming at the top of her lungs.

Before she knew it, it was nearing the end of the third quarter, and y/n realized she had to use the bathroom.

"Where are you going?" Josh yelled from his spot on the track.

"I'm just going to the bathroom chill." Y/n answered, raising her voice above all the cheers. She lifted her butt off the metal seat.

"Your gonna miss some of the game but whatever." Josh continued.

"What? The game is almost in the fourth quarter. The Cheetahs are up by so many points. There's no way the opposing team can come back and win. It's not a big deal." Y/n replied, finally returning to her journey to the restrooms.

As y/n was walking back from using the bathroom, she found Coach Miller desperately searching for her. "There you are!" He exclaimed once he spotted her walking from the bathroom. "Where were you? I need you! Come on."

"What is it?" y/n asked, seeing the frantic features on Coach Miller's face. It frightened y/n.

"Someone got hurt on the last play." Coach Miller explained.

"Who is it?" Y/n asked once again, this time a little more pushy. The Coach just wasn't giving her the answers she wanted. Reminded her of Tyler and the homecoming topic.

"It's Tyler." Coach told her.

Y/N's eyes went wide in shock. She was surprised Tyler had fell. He was usually very good on his feet. "Is it bad?" She questioned anxiously. The coach only nodded, and y/n's whole body filled with  adrenaline as she gained the courage to run. "Oh dear, god!" She panicked. She was now the one with the frantic facial expression.

Y/n dashed up to the many coaches surrounding Tyler. She couldn't see past them, and it only worried her even more.

What if he was passed out?

What if he needed to go to the hospital?

What if he broke something important and lost the ability to play football? It was his passion.

That would just tear y/n's heart apart. Even if it wasn't her in pain, it still hurt her heart to see him hurt. Does that make sense?

The coaches moved out of the way for her to see Tyler sitting up perfectly unharmed, a huge nervous grin plastered on his face, holding out a bedazzled football reading, "Can we tackle hoco together?"

Y/n's eyes went wide with shock as she covered her mouth with her hand. She stepped back and shook her head in disbelief. Her voice could barely be heard as she mumbled, "I can't believe you!" She giggled.

As Tyler got up she jokingly pushed him. "I thought you were actually hurt, you asshole! I got scared!"

He chuckled, as he stepped forwards, grasping her into a tight hug. "I'm going to take your feisty behavior as a yes." He teased confidently.

"Yes." Is all y/n managed to say.
