Chris pulled his wife to the side, setting the glass of wine in his hands down.

"What is it, Chris?" Kelly asked sweetly.

"I have something to talk to you about."

"Okay, just give me a minute." Kelly twisted around to finish her conversation with her brother and his wife before turning around and walking outside to talk. "What's on your mind?" Kelly slid the back sliding door closed.

"It's Tyler and y/n. I feel like something is up." Chris started, shrugging his shoulders and looking into the window to see some of the family finishing their meals, and some conversing in the living room. Tyler was sitting on an entirely different side of the table; away from y/n. They weren't even glancing each other's way. Just staring down at their food; playing with it.

"Why? Do you think they had a fight?" Kelly asked obliviously, turning her gaze to the window like Chris, watching Tyler and y/n.

"No, that's the thing. I think they haven't stopped fighting!" He stated, finally looking back at Kelly. "Haven't you noticed that they only really talk to each other when we are around and that when they do they are basically teasing each other?"

Kelly scoffed, crossing her arms. "What's your point, Chris? They're dating of course they are going to tease each other!"

"No, but kel, listen," Chris started, using his arms dramatically to express his point. "why didn't he tell us about her sooner? Don't you think when he got a girlfriend he would've called us about her?" Chris added, and Kelly thought for a moment before shaking her head.

"He's just busy, Chris. Stop questioning everything our son does. Be grateful that he even brought this girl here!" Kelly looked as though she was about to storm inside and leave Chris out in the cold, but she wanted to give him a chance to explain  and maybe change the way he was thinking.

"Listen, I found a video tape of whenever she fell into the animal trap. They were fighting and talking as though they were doing something so terrible that it would break our hearts. They gave me an excuse that they were scared, but that's movie shit. And I think they are hiding stuff from us." Chris rambled.

Kelly flung her arms up. "Of course they are hiding stuff from us, Chris! They are a couple, of course they are going to have things that only they understand." She began getting angry with Chris. She couldn't believe Chris was acting this way; not trusting his own son.

"No, Kelly! I think they aren't really dating!" He shouted to get his point across, but he quickly glanced into the window, making sure no one heard him and then lowered his voice. "I'll show you the tape when we get home-"

"No, Chris. I don't want to see the tape. I don't want into all this bullshit." She paused to take a deep breath. "I only get to see our son once, maybe twice if I'm lucky, a year, so you better fix whatever is going on between you two before Tyler decides to never come back and deal with your shit."

On that, Kelly twisted herself around and stomped into the house, leaving Chris standing there in his thoughts.

"This isn't odd between us, is it?" Y/n asked, once Tyler was done with his meal. Everyone else had already finished except Tyler and y/n. Y/n wasn't finished because she was picking at her food as usual.

"I don't think so." Tyler shrugged, unsure of the answer. "Just a little bit maybe."

Y/n sighed. "Well, is there any way to not make it odd so people don't  think we are faking our relationship to hide up a lie you made?" Y/n asked in one breath.

Tyler huffed out a breath and shrugged. "All you care about is your reputation, don't you?" He snapped. He didn't seem mad, nor did he seem annoyed. He just looked sort of upset. Was it because she didn't

kiss him?

"Well, you lied and was afraid of telling them the truth. Maybe you're the one that's afraid of reputation. That's why we're here, isn't it?" Y/n was sort of confused. Maybe he did feel uncomfortable.

"Yes, I suppose it is." Tyler looked back down at his plate.

"Yeah..." Y/n trailed off, finally picking up some mashed potatoes on her fork and slowly sliding it in her mouth. Were they really lying? Or did they actually like each other? Tyler wasn't sure anymore. Well, he knew his feelings, but he didn't know hers. He did like her, but did she like him? It confused him to know end, which caused him to lie to himself.

He kept telling himself: He was acting it. He didn't like her. She was his annoying 'boss' that seemed to leave whenever the hell she pleased, despite her strict schedule. The one that pushed him around and called him hurtful names. He would always blame her personality on her career; she has to be strict if she's a model. But to hell with that. He didn't love her. She was annoying, and he knew she would never like him. She hated him, and those feelings can't just change.

And he actually started to believe his own messed up lie.

With that in his mind, he picked up his paper plate, and stormed out of the dining room leaving her with confusion, and a full plate of food.

"Uncle tyty?"

"Yes, Mia?" Tyler mumbled, an annoying tone to his voice, but Mia didn't notice.

"Will you play the piano for me?" Mia grabbed his fingers and tugged at him to get out of his chair.

"Only if you'll dance." Tyler's lips tugged into a smile. Mia nodded her head eagerly, and Tyler chuckled cutely as he sat up in his chair.

Mia let out an excited giggle that came out more like a squeal and she ran over to the piano.

Tyler set himself down on the piano bench, feeling around on the keys.

"Hey, guys! Everyone come in the living room, Tyler's going to play us a song!" His aunt called, and everyone in earshot started venturing to the living room.

"What do you want me to play?" Tyler whispered to Mia, as everyone patiently waited.

"Prove You Wong." She said. Tyler laughed at her attempt to remember the name of the song. She was close, it was 'Prove Me Wrong'

"Alright." Tyler smiled, and settled himself in the right position before grazing his fingers over the keys, gracefully, as it made sound perfectly the way he wanted.

He glanced over from the corner of his eye to see y/n slowly walk into the room, leaning herself on the wall that separated the living room and the dining room. A small smile on her face.

No matter how much he tried to convince himself that she was an unforgiving bitch, she still found a way to make his insides turn and his body tense. His fingers soon became to slow to catch up with the song,  his nerves taking control of him. But he wouldn't give into his mind screaming to stop embarrassing himself. It would probably be more embarrassing if he choked up and stopped.

That's when he started to sing: "I don't know

Where I'm supposed to go

So I might just

Take my pride and go

Some people, they know,

Know everything,

But I know that

They don't know my heart"

Y/n let out a soft sigh, making her way to sit in the chair by the piano to see him better.

"Cause I, oh yeah I,

Believe in love

And I hope I can show you what I mean

And I don't believe love's for me

So won't you come around and prove me wrong"

Y/n swayed with the beat, and a genuine big smile took over her face. Tyler could feel the sweat on his fingers as they danced around the keys. He was surprised he could keep himself focused.

He felt like yelling at y/n to get out of his line of view so he could focus, but he knew that wouldn't be civil. Especially in front of all of these people.

"Won't walk the world

Any different,

And my path won't change until you

Make a wall and make me fall

And break me down"

Mia was basically living with Tyler's music. Her eyes were closed and her hand was in the air, moving to the beat. She was always his biggest fan. She loved her uncle tyty.

"I don't know, I don't know

If I wrote this song in vain,"

Tyler ended up closing his eyes, confident enough on his muscle memory to finish the song off. He's done it millions of times at his apartment he had in Los Angeles. This was his favorite song that he had wrote. Not only for the melody's difficulty, but for the background of the story.

He related to it so much. He related to it now more than ever. He didn't think he was in love when he wrote the song, and that's why he wrote it. But now that he felt as though he might possibly like someone, maybe even be in love with someone, it makes the song almost new to him. He related in a different way that he didn't know he could.

He finished off the song, a huge smile capturing his lips. Mia clapped first, and then everyone else joined in.

"That was beautiful Tyler!" Kelly complimented, proudly.

"That was amazing." Y/n said softly. Tyler smiled at her and nodded.

"Will you do another one?" Mia asked, and Tyler nodded his head turning to y/n.

"Shall I do your favorite song?"

"There's no way you know my favorite song!"

"I do too."

"Do not!"

"Do too!"

"How could-"

Tyler began to play, interrupting her argument. The melody was soft, and delicate just like the recording.

"We'll do it all

Everything

On our own

We don't need

Anything

Or anyone"

Chasing Cars.

Tyler tilted his head sideways glancing over at her with a funny face. Y/n giggled.

"If I lay here

If I just lay here

Would you lie with me and just forget the world?"

Y/n glanced over at Mia who was, once again, flowing her hands into the air with the slow beat. Y/n mimicked her, lifting her hands into the air.

Tyler shook his head, trying not to blush.

"I don't quite know

How to say

How I feel

Those three words

Are said too much

They're not enough"

Okay, he liked her a lot more than he thought.

"Chris, will you go tell Tyler and Y/n that they don't have to worry about getting up super early? There's no kids to jump on us anymore." Kelly said, giggling a little.

Chris scoffed. "You just want me to talk to him don't you."

"I do. And you will." Kelly pushed Chris out of the door and shut it behind her so she could get her pjs on.

Chris rolled his eyes and made his way closer to the guest room before stopping in his tracks. He heard them talking...

"Finally back!" Tyler groaned, flopping himself down on the guest bed.

"You still sleep on the floor." Y/n deadpanned, pointing down at the little pallet. He scoffed, and obliged.

"I find that ridiculous."  Tyler reluctantly stuffed himself under the covers of the hard ground.

"We aren't really dating. I find sleeping with a friend ridiculous." Y/n argued.

"Well, you're ridiculous then!" Tyler stuck his tongue out at her.

"Whatever you say."

Chris grinned. There was his proof. They literally just confessed it. Now, was his plan on showing Kelly. He didn't know how he would do that, but he wanted her to believe.

He knocked, and the two went silent. It took a moment before he heard "come in!" From y/n.

He walked in, to see that Tyler was basically hugging y/n on the bed. He cringed at how much they tried to hide the truth. "Hey, your mom wanted to let you know that you can sleep in as late as you want. There's no rush." Chris stated, and they both nodded.

Chris couldn't help but see Tyler's face looking like a deer in headlights. He sighed. "Stay safe kids. Use condoms." He grumbled the first thing that came to his mind. before walking out.

"Did he just-" y/n started but cut herself off with a sigh.

Tyler's face was tomato red.

"Did it look like-" Tyler began to ask.

"No!" Y/n interrupted. "Get on the floor!"

Tyler sighed, and climbed into his little makeshift bed. It was more like a sleeping bag.

"Well, goodnight, y/n. Sleep well. Tomorrow is Christmas."
