Do you ever have that urge to cry since you wake up till the night? For no particular reason. You just feel devastated and useless in this world.
Well, thatâs exactly how I felt this morning and still not out of this mode yet. Iâm not usually like this. Nearly all the time Iâm so happy and dreaming about my future life and shining career. But today it was nothing like that.
My hair and clothes were soaked from the tears of the sky, mirroring my exact emotions, while I ran down the street holding the magazine above my head. Hopelessly trying to keep the rain away from me.
Me, Lilly, Erik and Aaron have made plans to meet at Pizza hut for dinner. Iâll let them pay for my dinner this time because Iâm totally out of money.
I reached the restaurant to find my friends sitting on a long table and already saving me a chair. I smiled thinking that maybe this part of my life isnât as bad as the others and maybe theyâre the reason of my first smile today.
I sat on the chair not even bothering to say hi. I heard them chatting about the money and when dropped onto the chair next to Lilly they all stopped to look at me.
âYouâre a mess,â Erik said laughing.
âSay something new.â I told him.
âYouâre gonna get sick that way.â Aaron said scowling at me.
âNo, Iâm not.â I exclaimed snatching his black jacket from the back of his chair, where he hung it and put it on.
For me it was over sized but I didnât care all I wanted was to feel warm because this placeâs air conditioner felt like we were at the north pole. I untangled my different type bracelets from the sleeve. They were all colors and varies from rubber to string to leather to metal to every other kind that is on this earth. I was wearing over ten ones maybe.
I may have gone overboard with them today but itâs only because I felt devastated and they always make me feel happy.
âWow, These are so many bracelets youâre wearing,â Aaron looked amazed.
âI like bracelets,â I told him easily.
âDonât go there Aaron. You can never convince her not to wear bracelets.â Lilly said.
âItâs impossible. She loves them like theyâre her little babies,â Erik completed and Aaron laughed flashing those cute dimples.
âShe even has a little house for them,â Lilly said. And I remembered showing her the place where I keep all of them. Itâs a big box that looks like the Barbie house only painted red and covered with skull stickers.
âReally? Well, Thatâs cute.â He said smiling.
âOkay, all I have to say is that I love my bracelets and no matter how much I tell you would never understand,â I defended myself hugging them lovingly.
âIâm sure we do,â Aaron told me. But I barely even heard him when I noticed my brown special one and kept staring at it longingly. Only if he was here my happiness would be completed.
âCan we please order the pizza now cause Iâm really starving?â Erik said obviously catching my glossy eyes. Aaron seemed to notice too but decided to close his mouth when Erik gave him the look not to ask, which Iâm very thankful for.
Why do I have to put myself in so many embarrassing situations because I canât control my trapped emotions?
âWhatever you say brother,â Lilly told him and then we did as he requested.
We ate, chatted and had a bunch of fun. Then the waitress came and gave us the invoice and walked away.
Someone had to pay.
They all looked at me...
âWhat? No way I donât have enough money,â I told them honestly.
âNeither do I.â Lilly said finishing her pizza.
âAaron?â I asked him.
âNo, I paid yesterday. Iâm not gonna pay for food every day,â He said shaking his head.
âWhat kind of a gentleman doesnât want to pay for others?â I told him and he looked at the ground.
âWell, if I had any money at all. I wouldnât have let you pay for it,â He told me honestly looking rather embarrassed than anything else.
âThatâs okay. Iâm sure weâll figure it out.â I said.
Then all of us looked at Erik he must have had some money left from his uncle.
He sighed and took out some from his pocket and put it on the table.
âWhereâs the rest?â I asked him; this wasnât enough.
âThatâs it. Iâm out,â He said sitting comfortably in his chair with no responsibility whatsoever. I eyed him suspiciously.
âYou finished all the money they gave you in only one week?â I asked surprised but then realized that he might not have finished them.
âErik,â I pronounced his name slowly. I know him that well to find out that he was lying. He didnât answer me and kept staring out the window.
However, Lliana didnât seem to surrender yet. She stood up and grabbed her brother from his sweater Frisking him and padding down his clothes carefully. He looked around him looking at the people starring at him.
âWhat are you doing? I already told you I donât have any...â He stopped shortly when he saw his sister with the money in her hands. She found it in his socks.
âThere. I knew you were hiding it somewhere,â She exclaimed smiling victoriously. He sighed and dropped sadly on the chair. We put all the money together and paid for the food.
After paying we sat on the same table online trying to find some jobs. It was an emergency we seriously need some money. Erik was also searching for us.
We didnât find anything fit enough so we gave up and got out of the restaurant. Well, the waitress practically kicked us out just being honest.
We got out walking along the wet street. The rain has stopped and the weather is nice and cool now.
âSo Aaron, Do you have any hobbies you like doing? â I asked him thinking that I donât know enough about him. So I was trying knowing him better.
Lilly and Erik were walking behind us. I think theyâre arguing, as usual about her embarrassing him and him being selfish.
âYes, I really like surfing.â As long as I heard his answer, I stopped walking stunned. Could that be a stupid coincidence?
âWhat?â He asked me.
Lilly ran into me not aware that Iâve already stopped walking.
âYou actually like surfing.â I stated.
âYes, is that something bad?â He asked confused. I shut my mouth and started walking again.
âNo, Not at all. Itâs pretty cool,â I answered giving him the best smile I could master. I canât believe it. Heâs a surfer just like him.
âWho are your favorite surfers?â I asked dragging a normal conversation. He listed a lot of surfers and I knew most of them so I continued talking about everyone of them. And then we talked about the surfboards and the types of waves.
âYou really know a lot about surfing ,donât you?â
âYes, I do.â
âSo you are a surfer too.â He concluded.
âNo, I donât really like water but my... older brother was a surfer so,â I said leaving him the rest to figure out.
âThatâs amazing I should see him someday.â He said with enthusiasm.
I didnât say anything and kept walking silently for some time when someone patted my shoulders. I turned around to find a man with sharp black eyes with a thick mustache with the same matching color. He was wearing a suit.
âYes?â I said.
âHi, Iâm professor Hendrix,â He offered me his hand and I looked at him in fear for a moment but I think that thereâs nothing to worry about so I took it and shook his hand.
âCan I help you?â I asked.
âActually itâs the other way around. Iâm offering you and your friends some help. A work to be exact.â He smiled like he just won a million dollars.
I gaped at him with one question in my head.
