Still The One
Hailee's POV
"Hails, meet One Direction."
"Oh my gosh, I can't believe this is finally happening! Hi guys I'm Hailee." I smile shaking their hands.
"Very lovely to meet you." Louis say as I shake his hand last.
"Um, not to sound rude or anything, but where is Harry?"
"I'm not sure, maybe he went to get a snack?" Liam says questionably. Harry has always been my favorite, don't get me wrong, I love them all, but Harry holds a special place in my heart.
"I can go look for him if you want?" Niall say about to walk away to search for the missing boy.
"No, it's fine." I smile. I am pretty upset he's not there after Aves said he would be 'waiting for me.'
"How about I give you a tour?" Liam says. I look to Avery, begging for approval and she nods and I squeal a little before following Liam. He wraps his arm around my shoulders and guides me throughout the giant arena. I feel myself blush and I wrap my arm around his waist. I mean come on, it's Liam Payne!
"So you and Avery are pretty close, huh?"
"Oh yeah! We've been friends for what feels like forever!" I smile.
"She's a very special girl."
"Yeah, she is." I notice how his smile gets brighter at the mention of Avery and how much happier he got. I can tell right away that he has some sort of feelings for her, also knowing Avery can pretty clueless when it comes to things like this and probably has no idea.
"I guess this 'tour' really just ended up being a walk and talk."
"To be honest, I could care less about the venue," I laugh and he joins.
"How about we go sit and talk, tell me about yourself." He smiles and I nod.
"I would like that." He pulls me to his side and we walk towards the stage. He hops up onto the edge of the stage and I follow behind him.
"So, tell me about yourself," he says as I settle down next to him. I go on and on about my life, where I grew up, where I live now, the whole shebang. I feel he is getting bored of me speaking, even if he isn't, and asks about him even though I basically know his whole life story. He had just finished asking me a question before we hear screaming coming from Louis and Avery. Louis pushing her around on his skateboard and let go of her, causing her to scream.
"Is there something between them I don't know about?" I ask Liam.
"I hope not," I hear him mumble quietly but decide to ignore it.
"Do you want to go somewhere else?" he says, hopping off of the stage.
"Um, sure." I may not have, but I know he wants to. He looks over at Avery and waits for her to turn to face us, before he puts his arm around me again. Just by that one simple action, I know what he is doing. I am not a person who enjoys being used, but since it's Liam, I'll let it slide for now. We walk around the arena, him now giving me a proper tour, before we run into Harry.
"Harry! Where have you been?"
"Nowhere," he answers angrily. "Who is this?" he asks looking me up and down.
"This is Hailee, Avery's friend. Remember, Avery said she was coming to visit today?" Liam says, slightly annoyed at Harry's attitude.
"Alright, I don't remember that, I'm sorry." He smiles half-heartedly and shakes my hand before walking past us.
"Well that was rude," Liam states what I'm thinking. "I'm sorry about that, love," he says sympathetically.
"It's okay," I say, plastering a fake smile on my face. I'm upset that my dream idea of how meeting Harry would go didn't happen as planned. I have dreamt of this since forever and I could have cried right then and there if it wasn't for the fact that Liam is here. I wrap my arm around his waist again and he smiles at me.
"Want some ice cream? I keep tons of Ben and Jerry's in my freezer."
"Yes!" I giggle as he takes my hand and we run to the freezer in his dressing room. He takes out a pint of ice cream before sitting up on the counter. I'm looking around at the pictures he has before he calls me to sit with him. I jump up and smooth out my black skater skirt before grabbing one of the spoons he holds out.
"Hey Hails."
"Hey Liam," I joke, then laugh at my own joke.
"I was wondering. Since you are Avery's best friend and you know the type of guys she likes... Well, I guess what I'm trying to ask is-"
"Liam, I think I know what you're asking. You like Avery and you want to know if she likes you too yeah?" I say saving him the trouble of asking. He nods helplessly and I smile a little.
"Honestly Liam, why would a girl not want to date you? Aves never told me anything about you or any of the boys for that matter, other than how childish you really are. I think anyone would be lucky to have you and if she happens to not feel that way for you, I'm single," I tease and he laughs.
"I'll keep that in mind," he says, giving me a side hug.
"Aside from that, I'll talk to her for you," I say and his face lights up before he thanks me a million times.
"However, if you want to keep this a secret, you really need to work on making it less obvious," I say standing up from his counter.
"I'm going to go find her, see if she wants to talk to me. Care to join?" I ask Liam, holding out my hand to him. He nods happily and puts the little bit of ice cream left in the freezer.

"Honestly, he was a disgusting human being," I say, bringing up a past blind date I let one of our friends set me up with.
"Really? Why?" Avery asks, already cracking up.
"He was just so arrogant and ignorant of the more important things in life. I want someone who I can talk about how important happiness or love truly is compared to money."
"You have always been one for happiness," Avery teases.
"Okay, so maybe I like to have money Avery, but ugh! He was just such an asshole," I whine, at the thought of bringing that jerk up again.
"I'll set you up with Harry, once he pops back in."
"Ha! I don't think so," I say angrily but slightly upset.
"WHAT? YOU don't want to date Harry?" Avery asks with surprise in her voice and her eyes wide open.
"I ran into him when Liam was giving me a tour and he seemed like a jerk. I don't know what his problem was. And he was staring at me creepily, I was a little scared," I giggle.
"Hm, thats odd, he's usually a good guy I swear," she says, trying to lift up my spirits. I run my fingers through my hair pushing all the loose hairs back. I just shrug.
"Hey Hails." I look up at her and she is smiling brightly. "Bathtub?" I can't help but laugh as I answer her.
"Bathtub." She stands up and gives me a hug.
"Give him another chance, nice guys can be assholes every once in a while," she chuckled and I nod.
"Anyways, I know you probably know already, but theres an award show tonight. Some European thing and I, being the loveliest friend, got you a ticket." Aves smiles, prideful in the connections she now has.
"No way," I say, not buying it. She reaches into her back pocket and holds out a ticket.
"Way." I squeal taking it from her hand to look at it up close. I stand up and give her a hug jumping up and down.
"OH MY GOSH THANK YOU!" I yell excitedly. As I snap into reality, I remember something very important. "What am I going to wear?"
"One step ahead of you." She smiles, taking my hand and running towards the tour bus. We run in and go towards the back where there is a little room where two dresses are hanging up: a navy blue lace dress and a red high-low.
"Yours is the red. These awards aren't like the Grammy's or anything, so we went for the ever so effective red, to find you a handsome gentlemen."
"Oh god," I laugh as I take the dress to hold it up. I've already fallen in love.
"Go try it on! The bathroom the first door on your left." I smile and go into the bathroom to put it on. I strip off my clothing and shoes and slip it on, taking a little extra time to admire my reflection in the mirror and brush out my hair. After a few minutes I walk out of the bathroom.
"Hey Aves?" I call to her but she doesn't answer.
"Avery?" I step out of the bathroom and grab my clothes, putting them in the back room before hunting for Avery.
"I would be honored to go with you Louis," I hear her say as I approach the door to exit the bus. I stop and listen in on the conversation.
"Great, well I'll come get you at 7:00," I hear him say happily.
"Sounds perfect!"
"Oh one more thing, do you think Hailee will go with Harry? He's been in a weird mood since we got off the bus for whatever reason. Maybe having someone to go with will loosen him up a bit."
"Oh definitely!" I silently groan. I had just told Aves about my experience with Harry and now she's sending me away with him.
"Alright, well I'll leave you to get ready." With that I run towards the bathroom and hear her enter.
"Aves! Can you zip me?" She nods as she walks over to me and zips up the dress.
"I love this dress on you!" I smile as I look down at the dress and do a little twirl.
"I really like it too!" I giggle.
"Well, the boys will be here at 7:00, so lets do make up yes?" Avery says, clapping her hands and pulling me to sit down on a little chair.
"Snap, we are going to make you look so gorgeous for Harry."
"Harry?" I say even though I already knew from eavesdropping.
"Yes, Harry."
"No, I'm not going."
"Yes, you are," Avery says holding my face to do my eyeshadow.
"Okay, fine, I am, but I don't want to go with him if he's only using me as a date."
"How did you know that?" she says, stopping what she was doing and standing back to look at me. I look away from her gaze before turning back and meeting her eyes again.
"Fine! I was snooping!" I admit, defeated.
"Why?" Avery yells at me. I explain to her how I was looking for her and how I didn't want to interrupt her and Louis' moment and she is a little less upset at me. She finishes doing my makeup, then goes on to doing her own. I would have done it, but I'm not very talented in that department, so I sit back and watch her.
"Should I wear the black, or the silver heels?" Avery turns to face me after applying her lipstick and focuses on the two pairs of shoes.
"Black."
"Rock on," I say as I slip on the closed-toe shoes. They are high, but not too high. High enough in which I can walk easily.
"I can't believe that it's almost seven already, We took only like three hours to do everything. Look at us!" Avery cheers at our accomplishment. We high five and giggle, then walk towards the front of the bus.
"They should be here any minute," Avery says. A few minutes pass and Louis knocks on the door before coming onto the bus, Harry following behind him. Louis is wearing a white v-neck and blazer with black jeans, and Harry has on a white button up, black suit jacket, and black jeans.
"You look beautiful," I hear Louis tell Avery as he escorts her out of the bus, leaving an awkward moment of silence and glances to pass between Harry and I.
"You look nice." He smiles.
"Thank you," I say, avoiding eye contact.
"Shall we?" he asks, opening the door and leading me out towards the limo for all of us to take. I stay quiet for the most part, other than when he asks me questions. The rest of the time is awkward.
"Did I do something to piss you off?"
"Well kind of," I admit.
"Explain?" he says, stopping near where the limo was.
"Not right now, we have to leave," I say, walking away.
"Just tell me! Maybe I can fix it?" he yells, raising his voice.
"Fine! You wanna know? You were my favorite of the boys, and you were rude the first time I ever met you. So yeah, not gonna lie, it made me upset. I was just so fixated on the happy ever after endings, I forgot that things like that don't happen to me. So sorry if I seem a little pissy today."
"Lets just get this over with," I say, lowering my voice as I start to walk away again.
"What a lovely attitude you have," he says, catching up next to me.
"I could say the same about you, honey."
