A Promise Under the Sun - Long

Luigi Mangione - Imagines563 words~3 min read

It was a perfect evening in Hawaii, the sun beginning its slow descent over the ocean, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink. We were on the beach, as usual, walking along the shore barefoot with the sand between our toes. The sound of the waves crashing and the soft breeze made everything feel like it was falling into place.

Luigi was unusually quiet tonight. Normally, he'd be making jokes or teasing me about something, but tonight, he kept stealing glances at me, his eyes soft but serious. I'd caught him trying to hide a smile more than once, but he was still a little on edge.

"Luigi?" I asked, a teasing smile tugging at my lips. "What's going on? You're awfully quiet."

He chuckled, though it sounded a little nervous. "Just thinking."

I raised an eyebrow, glancing over at him. "Uh-oh. When you start thinking, I know something's up."

He laughed again, but this time, it was nervous laughter. He took a deep breath, slowing down his pace, and when I looked at him, his expression was different—gentler, more intense.

"Y/N," he began, his voice suddenly more serious, "I've been thinking a lot about... everything. About us."

My heart started beating a little faster, the air around us feeling warmer, even though it was just a cool evening breeze. We stopped walking, and he turned to face me, his hands finding mine, fingers curling around mine like it was the most natural thing in the world.

"I've always known I wanted to be with you," he said, voice steady but thick with emotion. "But lately... I've realized just how much I need you in my life. How much I want you in my future."

His words hit me in a way I wasn't quite prepared for, but I was already smiling, already feeling the warmth of his love surround me. There was something in the way he was looking at me, in the way his hands held mine, that made me feel like this was it. Like we were standing at the edge of something life-changing.

And then, without another word, he dropped to one knee, pulling out a small, simple box. My breath caught in my throat as I watched him, wide-eyed, as he opened the box to reveal a delicate ring, gleaming in the last rays of the setting sun.

"Y/N," he said, his voice calm but filled with all the love I'd ever known. "Will you marry me?"

My heart skipped a beat. I couldn't help but smile, a few tears threatening to spill as I looked at him—this man who had become everything to me. The man who loved me so deeply, so fiercely, and who had just asked me the most important question of my life.

"Yes, Luigi," I said, my voice barely above a whisper, but it felt like it echoed across the ocean. "Yes, I will."

He stood up, grinning from ear to ear, and without missing a beat, he slipped the ring on my finger, his hands trembling just slightly. Then, with his usual playful energy, he pulled me close, kissing me deeply, a kiss that felt like a promise, like a new chapter beginning.

"Best decision I ever made," he murmured against my lips, his grin never fading.

I laughed softly, the world feeling just right. "I think so too, Luigi."
