As I turned back to where Zhiyu had been sitting, I realized he had already gone. I glanced at the clock on my wrist and was surprised to see that it was already 6:30. I packed up my things and headed home, looking forward to unwinding with my favorite furry companion, Miyo.
As I walked into the peaceful alley where Miyo liked to hang out, I spotted her waiting for me by the old stone bench. I smiled and greeted her with a gentle scratch behind the ears. She purred contentedly as I pulled out a carton of milk from my bag and fed her. As she lapped up the milk, I told her all about my day, from the Board Casting Club meeting to my unexpected conversation with Zhiyu. Miyo listened attentively, responding with occasional "MEOWS" that made me laugh.
After spending some quality time with Miyo, I said goodbye and headed back home. But then, I heard a strange cracking sound coming from the abandoned building next door. I immediately looked up, wondering what was happening. The sound seemed to be coming from the third floor. I quickly got up and headed towards the building, curiosity getting the better of me.
When I reached the third floor, I saw a girl about my age rummaging through some old boxes. She seemed completely absorbed in what she was doing, and didn't even notice me approaching her. As I got closer, she suddenly got startled and fell down, hitting her hand hard on the floor.
I quickly rushed to her side and pulled out a band-aid from my bag. "Let me help you," I said, trying to apply the band-aid to her hand. But she refused, pushing my hand away and trying to do it herself.
"Stop, I'll do it," I said, trying to take her hand again. But she refused, her eyes flashing with a hint of defiance.
We sat there in silence for a moment, sizing each other up. Finally, I broke the silence. "Who are you?" I asked, trying to sound friendly.
But she just shrugged, her expression unyielding. I noticed that her jacket had a patch with the name "Yumei" on it, and I realized that she must be from the nearby school.
I decided to match her attitude, raising an eyebrow and saying, "Well, nice to meet you, Yumei. I'm Mei."
To my surprise, she laughed, a mischievous glint in her eye. I giggled too, feeling a spark of connection.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, curiosity getting the better of me.
Yumei grinned. "I'm searching for aliens."
I raised an eyebrow. "You don't really expect to find them, do you?"
But Yumei was dead serious. "I know it sounds crazy, but I've always been obsessed with aliens and UFOs. This is my project for school, and I'm determined to find some evidence."
I was taken aback by her passion, but I couldn't help feeling a little impressed. "I believe you," I said, smiling.
Yumei's face lit up. "Really?"
I nodded. "Yeah. I've never really thought about searching for aliens before, but I think it's kind of cool that you're doing it."
Yumei grinned, and we sat there in silence for a moment, enjoying each other's company.
Finally, I got up to leave. "I should get going," I said.
Yumei nodded, standing up too. "Yeah, me too."
