After the club period, the next period was English. Our teacher, Mr. Thompson, came in and took the lesson. He explained the nuances of Shakespearean sonnets and answered our questions. Before we knew it, the period was over.

As the English period ended, I was called over by the Board Casting Club members. They gathered us, the newly selected members, and introduced themselves. There were three seniors and three juniors, one from each section. I was the only one selected from our section.

The seniors introduced themselves first. There was Emily, the president of the club, who seemed confident and charismatic. Then there was Rachel, who had a passion for videography. And finally, there was Zhi Peng, who smiled at me as he introduced himself.

I felt a surge of nervousness as Zhi Peng approached me. His dad and my dad were friends, but we had never really talked before. He greeted me warmly, and I bowed back, feeling a little awkward.

"Hi, Mei," he said. "I'm glad you're part of the club. If you have any problems or need any help, I'm always here for you."

I smiled back at him, feeling a little more at ease. "Thanks, Zhi Peng. I appreciate it."

The seniors then explained the objectives of the club. "In this club, we'll be learning and practicing various aspects of media production," Emily said. "We'll be covering news reporting, anchoring, interviewing, video editing, scriptwriting, and sometimes even live broadcasting."

Rachel added, "We'll be developing skills to create and present news content for school broadcasts or internal media channels. And of course, we'll be honing our communication and critical thinking abilities."

Zhi Peng handed out sheets of paper with our first assignment. "For our first project, we'll be covering the upcoming school festival. Mei, you'll be working on the scriptwriting team. Rachel will be leading the videography team, and Emily will be anchoring the live broadcast."

Jian, one of the junior members, spoke up. "I'll be working on the sound design team. I'll be responsible for creating the music and sound effects for the broadcast."

Sophia, the other junior member, chimed in. "And I'll be working on the graphics team. I'll be designing the titles, transitions, and other visual elements for the broadcast."

I looked at the sheet of paper, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. Scriptwriting? I had never done that before.

"What's the topic of the script?" I asked Zhi Peng.

"You'll be writing about the importance of community service," he replied. "You can work with Emily and Rachel to come up with a concept and script."

I nodded, feeling a sense of determination. I was going to do my best to write an amazing script.

As the meeting ended, I couldn't help but think to myself, "This is going to be a challenge. But I'm ready for it."
