Dear Diary

I got arrested again. It wasn't my fault this time though. The granny provoked me. I was just minding my own business and she started hitting me with one of her crutches. Okay fine I was minding my own business with a guy's tongue down my throat and she started hitting me. Okay fine I might have accidentally bumped into her while making out with said guy. I just don't understand why she got so upset, she could've just walked around us for God's sake. Anyways the dust bag started hitting me with her crutch and so I grabbed it out of her hand, fully knowing she'll be able to balance on the other cructh, and that's when a police car rounded the corner and saw me holding the crutch away from the granny who was clinging onto her other crutch. Prefect timing right. I tried explaining myself to the officer but the granny accused me of attacking her and so I got arrested. Mom wasn't happy.

Taking a pull from the almost finished cigarette in my hand I close my diary. I inhale the toxic warmth of the cigarette and instantly feel relaxed. I blow the smoke out of my bedroom window and look out over the mountains. I'm really going to miss this view. Shaking the thought out of my head I look down at my pink covered diary and matching pen. I still can't believe I'm actually writing in that thing. Well it's better to write in there than to be stuck with a therapist.

Averting my gaze away from my diary I look over at the few boxes in the corner of my room. I still have a few things to pack before I leave in a few hours. Even with the help of mom's on going list of things to pack I'm still certain that I'll forget half of the things that I'll need to start off college.

College. Yeah I know. I'm still surprised that mom is willing to send me off to college after my last arrest. Like I explained in my diary. It wasn't my fault. Of course mom didn't believe me. Shocker. She did tell me that if I screwed up once more then she'd have no other choice but to financially cut me off. That would most likely end up with me flipping burgers at a fast food joint. Trust me. That's not an option for me.

" Honey I'm back from work!" I hear mom yell from downstairs as she shuts the front door.

" Shit." I curse as I throw the now finished cigarette out of the window and run over to my bed. I rip the covers off from the half naked boy who is fast asleep and cuddling my pillow.

" Toby. Toby! Toby get up!" I hiss as I try and shake him. Damn those muscles.

Remeber when I said that if I screw up once more I'll be cut off? Well this situation I'm in now is the definition of screwing up.

" Honey are you okay?" Mom asks as she starts climbing the stairs.

I mentally curse as I run over to lock my bedroom door. I sprint back to my bed and start dragging the now half awake body out of my bed.

Why did I have to get drunk last night? I knew mom would be home early after getting called in at the hospital yet I still got a boy in bed.

" It's Jody." I hear him say through a hoarse voice.

" What?" I question him as I pull him over to my en-suite bathroom where I have manged to sneak guys in and out of my room for the past few months.

" My name. It's Jody." he explains as he grabs a few of his items along the way.

I look at him in confusion. I could've sworn his name was Toby. Well I've never been good with names.

Just as I'm about to reply I hear my mom turning my door knob and struggling because I locked it.

" Why is your door locked?" I can basically hear the wheals turning in my mother's head.

" Oh uhm I'm just getting dressed!" I yell out a quick reply as I open my bathroom window.

" Call me?" Toby - I mean Jody asked hopeful as he threw out his belongings so he could climb out next. There's a tree right where my window is that I totally take advantage of. Especially in times like these.

" Yeah." I reply knowing fully that neither of us have each other's numbers. He delivered the pizza last night and then I invited him in for a few drinks. One thing led to another and well here we are. He's cute okay and I was lonley. Spare me the judgment.

I hear my mom knock on my door again. I know she's getting impatient. Without looking if Jody was ready to climb out I give him a little push. He loses his balance and misses the tree with a few inches. I cringe as Jody lands in mom's miniature rose garden. That's got to hurt.

I quickly run over to my door and unlock it. I come face to face with my mother's tired appearance. She's had a rough week. Helping me get everything sorted for college and getting called in at the hospital to do hours long of surgeries. Even though she has dark circles forming under her eyes, due to the lack of sleep she's been getting, she still looks beautiful. I envy her good looks because I for sure didn't inherit it. The only similarity I have to my mother is the dark color of my hair and my nose. Other than that I have more similar features of my dad.

Mom pushes past me and enters my room. Her eyes scan over my untidy room. I know she's searching for something to take me out on. It's a habit of hers that I have grown used to. I hear her sniff as she turns to glare at me with her icy blue eyes.

" Do I smell cigarettes?" she questions while raising a perfectly plugged eyebrow.

" Usually people smoke it but I mean if you -"

" Allison." mom cuts me off with her infamous glare.

Rolling my eyes I sniff around as well just to make my upcoming lie more convincing.

" No, I don't smell anything."

Mom walks over to me and starts to sniff. I try and hold in my laugh as she rounds me while making little sniff noises.

" Don't lie to me Allison." mom warns me.

I mentally roll my eyes and walk over to one of the boxes that still needs to be filled up.

" If you are done accusing me I'd really appreciate some help over here." I say as I start loading in a few items.

Mom stands rooted to her spot. I can feel her judgemental eyes roam over me. She releases a breath as she walks over to me.

" Remeber our agreement. One more screw up and you can forget about college. " she say as she lifts up a photo album.

" Yes mother." I mutter under my breath as I reach out for the photo album.

Mom's grip tightens around the album making it difficult for me to take it out of her hands.

I sigh in defeat and look down at the floor. I know what's coming next.

" It's been a year Ally." mom says just above a whisper.

I feel a slight pang in my heart at the mention of what day it is. Of course I know what today is but I'd prefer just to forget about it and focus on college.

" Really, it's been that long?" I scoff as I finally pray the album out of my mother's hands.

Mom doesn't reply to my comment as she takes a seat on my unmade bed. I don't pay attention to her as I scurry around to pack more things.

" Are you going to visit her? " mom asks slowly as if she's scared to push my buttons. I don't blame her.

" No. I have to be on campus in a few hours." I say while searching for the duct tape.

The duct tape catches my eye from the conner of the room. As I walk over to it I pray that mom will drop the subject and rant about other things. She could even start accusing me again for all I care. I just really want to avoid this subject.

" It won't be long. I could take you and we could get her-"

" I said no mom." I snap.

Silence fills the room and I immediately regret snapping at her. She had it coming though. Mom doesn't reply to my rudeness as she gets up from my bed. She takes the duct tape from my hands and walks over to the box I was packing things into mere minutes ago. She sighs as she closes the box and tapes it.

" I'm going to sleep for a few hours. Wake me up before you hit the road." she says and without waiting for an answer she struds out of my room.

I release a breath I didn't even know I was holding. Why does everything need to be so dramatic in my life?

Wanting to forget about the subject that my dear mother so graciously forced into my head I decide to go downstairs and start making breakfast.

The house is empty aside from mom sleeping in her room. I know dad had to leave early to meet up with a few of his clients. Dad works as a full time lawyer. With all the new cases he's been getting we barley see him. With mom in and out of the hospital and dad at his office I do tend to get a little lonley in the house. That would be the cause of the few parties I have hosted over the past couple of months. Yet I've been caught each time. I wouldn't be surprised if mom hired a babysitter for me. She probably knows that I would've made her drunk and hosted a party anyway.

Just as I'm about to enter the kitchen I hear the doorbell . I look down at my Teen Titans pajamas and shrug. Whoever it is must feel honored to see me in my natural habitat.

Opening the door I come face to chest with Toby- no it's Jody. Dang it.

" I forgot to ask your number." he face palms himself while handing me his phone. I notice the few scratch marks on his arm from the roses.

I mentally roll my eyes as I start typing in a random number. Don't get me wrong, he's a good guy but I'd rather not have strings attached before I start college.

Giving him back his phone he leans in and pecks me on the cheek. I don't utter a word as I close the door. No I'm not rude. Okay maybe a little.

I finally arrive in the kitchen as I mentally do a little happy dance. I always get excited before eating.

After eating a quick breakfast that consisted of eggs and bacon I hop into the shower to freshen up for the long day ahead of me.

The next few hours are spent on me filling up the boxes and getting everything together. Dad stopped by and helped me load the heavy boxes into my car. Looking at my now filled up car I sigh. Do I really need this much stuff? Probably.

"You all set sweetheart?" my dad asks as he closes the trunk of my car.

I wipe away the light layer of sweat that has formed on my forehead. I'm going to regret packing this much when I need to unload it by myself.

" I think so." I answer dad's question.

Dad walks over to me and wraps his arm around my shoulder. Dad has always been the more affectionate parent out of both my parents. He gives the best hugs. Those kinds of hugs that instantly reminds you of what home feels like.

" Remeber what your mom said about -"

" Yeah yeah I know. One last warning." I sigh as I take a step back from my dad. This whole one last warning shit is starting to irritate me now.

Dad chuckles as he leads me back into the house. Grabbing my purse and car keys I give him a quick kiss goodbye before leaving the house. I know mom wanted me to wake her up before I leave but I know she's tired. Besides I'll be back for Thanksgiving in a few weeks. I'm sure she'll survive.

Climbing into my car I reach over for my favorite pair of sunglasses.

" College here I come."
